In loving memory of the late Elizabeth Mary Barker who sadly passed away on 24th May 2015

Liz was diagnosed with Cancer of the Unknown Primary back in December 2014. She was adamant that she was going to fight it, and fight she did. She had to have an operation to remove most of a vertebrae, and later a hip replacement, alongside a further five hour life saving operation.
Sadly, in early May 2015, Liz started to deteriorate. She was re-admitted to hospital and despite becoming seriously ill very quickly and being given 48 hours, she fought for a further 7 days, fighting to 9 days in the end.
At the end, she was perfectly at peace, and passed in her sleep, in no pain with Rob, her son, holding her hand.

She will be greatly missed by her parents, Ron and Jeanne, her son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Angela, and the rest of her family and friends. She asked for people not to weep and mope for her, instead, it was her wish that people remembered the good times and good memories.

Please let us know if you are wanting to attend her funeral to give her one hell of a send off. We're planning it as a celebration of her life and achievements, not as mourning her passing, so please wear something smart with a splash of colour! Family flowers only please, donations to Macmillan via this page or in person on the day. Everyone is welcome to join us for a reception at Crich Tramway museum afterwards, food and refreshments will be provided.

Please feel free to leave your own tribute and memories of her on this page.

I first met Liz when she came to Dronfield and brought a 6 year old Robert to our school. Liz volunteered to work in my classroom and I soon realised what an asset she was;kind, clever reliable and great at bringing craft ideas into the classroom. Liz I'll be thinking of you on your birthday tomorrow Rest in Peace

No matter from which angle it is viewed, even through sadness, the whole of life is marvelous, for healing tears nourish seeds of joy in the waiting heart.

Fond memories of Liz, working with her in the Mortgage Department at the Halifax in London Street, Norwich. I recall Liz simply getting on with what she had to do, totally reliable, allowing her achievements to do the talking. Liz, thank you for being you and I wish you rest and peace.

Remind all of us O Lord, that we are blessed by friends and family who support and share our journeys.
