Our beloved dad, grandad, brother and uncle Keith Martin Andrews sadly passed away on 8th September 2020.
Dad was born 1 August 1945 to Daphne and Norman Andrews, later becoming big brother to Laurence.
He had an interest for all things mechanical and was thrilled at the age of 15 to be offered an apprenticeship at HMS Chatham Dockyard following in the footsteps of his grandad Harry Nash.
He had a love of motobikes and whiled away many hours ‘tinkering’ in his garage on his precious petrol-fuelled beasts which included a Triumph Bonnerville and Kawasaki Ninja. Some of his best memories were of those made riding through the French Alps with a convoy of his best mates.
Everyone who met dad said what an interesting man he was to chat with, covering many subjects from politics, history and current affairs to TV, film and music. Music being another great love of his, I’ve been told he turned up to parties with a brown case full of the latest Stax vinyl from Soho.
Dad loved nothing better than to be surrounded by his family and along with his brother started a family tradition that would span nearly four decades of camping in the New Forest. A tradition that will be continued with the new additions to the Andrews family.
Ten years ago he suffered a blow to his health with a diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer, however he had already taken on the role of grandad to his four cherished grandchildren Matilda, Stanley, Albert and Florence and was determined not to let it beat him. He had a further wonderful 10 years fulfilling the role that was quite clearly made for him, the ‘best grandad ever’.
He will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew him.
Numbers to the funeral service are limited to 30, however the grounds at the crematorium are spacious and pretty so please feel free to show your respects from there.
Having lived with cancer for many years, donations to Cancer Research and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution would be preferred to flowers.
