In loving memory of Jennifer Heather Such who sadly passed away peacefully at home on 4th September 2020.

Jenny was very much loved. It is sad, therefore, that the funeral will be very restricted in numbers because of COVID-19 rules. We will do three things to help celebrate her life for those who cannot come:
1. Mum's hearse will travel down St Olaves Road at 14:25 on 25 September if you would like to come and pay your respects;
2. We will be webcasting the funeral so that you can watch the service at 15:00 on 25 September or as a recording afterwards;
3. We plan to have a celebration of her life when things are more normal and we can all get together.

Please leave your thoughts and memories on this page. She will be greatly missed.

We will miss you so much Custard - we will miss your joyful laughter; your silly stories; your flapjack and jammy dodgers; your surprise knits when you came to visit; our trips together to theatres, galleries, parks and houses, beaches and cafes; your care and tenderness; your hugs. Thank you for everything you brought to our lives. We love you. Xanthe and Jennie. x from X

The world is a much poorer place without you Jenny. You were part of our family for much too short a time, we will both miss you.

Jenny was secretary for several years at the Audio Visual Centre, University of York. She proved herself to be reliable, conscientious and hard working. Jenny was always pleasant and a asset to my team. She will be sadly missed I am sure by her many friends and former work colleagues.

I remember the first time I met Jenny over fifty years ago. It was soon after I had met Lynda, my wife. I was taking a book out of the library. Jenny stamped my book and then asked, "Are you Chris?" In surprise, I confirmed I was. She smiled and said she was Lynda's friend. Lynda and I met with Jenny and Pete many times over the years. Jenny has been a good friend to us and was always a joy to be with. We miss you Jenny.

  • Jenny’s courgette cake was the most delicious cake I have ever tasted, she very kindly shared the recipe with me and will think of her every time I bake it (although it never turns out as good as hers).

St. Olave’s Road will not be the same without Jenny. We enjoyed her company so much over the years and were inspired by her knowledge and love of art, often going to places she suggested. The numerous wonderful “jaunts” that we went on were such fun. Art galleries, museums, theatre, cinema, the countryside, pubs. Celebrating her 70th birthday with friends and family last year. Sitting outside on the pavement during lockdown eating cake and drinking wine. Safari Suppers with the neighbours and the November Fireworks Extravaganzas which had become fixtures in our calendars in recent years. Jenny would make a fabulous courgette and lime cake and bring the most enormous rocket she could find to set off. We will miss her. Love from the Whitings at number 46.
