In loving memory of Anne Angela McAdam who sadly passed away on 3rd September 2020. Born McCabe Villas, Booterstown, Co Dublin to the sound of the Angelus Bell in the background. Eldest daughter of Edward & Mary Jane Stapleton, one of seven children she is survived by Tess & Tommy the baby of the family at age 82.
Aged 23 she married James McAdam and came to live in Scotland residing in the Cathcart area for the past seventy years , they had two sons , James and Derek and eventually two grandchildren Christopher & Claire. After 46yrs of marriage she was widowed on 30th March 1996, when James died , she had cared for him in the preceding three years following his stroke.
She was small of stature , but physically & mentally tough, brought up in hard & difficult times it influenced her mind set. She always said that despite having little, her childhood was happy, sustained by love from & of family. She was of a generation we may never see again.
Her health was remarkable with little or no intervention with doctors in the course of her life, save a broken leg which revealed osteoporosis and having both eyes treated for Cataracts as a day patient.
In life her faith was important, In Ireland she was educated by the nuns at convent school, and became a Child of Mary, her parish was The Church of the Assumption. on arrival in Scotland there was only Holy Cross and what is now the hall at Christ the King. The opening of St Gabriel's meant less walking, With the opening of St Helens she switched to it , She could get the bus to the door which saved her from a soaking in bad weather. Upstairs at the back of the balcony was a favourite spot as she could observe all that was happening.
She was admitted to hospital on the 18th August, not expected to survive but a few days she continued to show that resilience to the end, It is fitting that when in hospital on the board beside her bed it asked, what's important to me,
it said - My Sons.
