Marjorie Raynor, a retired Primary School Teacher and former resident of Bury in Lancashire and Edwinstowe in Nottinghamshire passed away peacefully on 14 August 2020 at the age of 80 years.

Marjorie was born in Bury, Lancashire in November 1939 to Stanley and Marjorie Hough and, after moving to Nottinghamshire with her parents, sister Rita and brother Alan, enjoyed a long career in primary school teaching having worked previously in Mansfield Library and the Electricity Board. She married her heart throb and life-long 'rock' Geofrey Raynor, at St Mary's Church in Edwinstowe and welcomed their two children, Neil and Alison into the world shortly thereafter. Geofrey passed away just four weeks earlier; the dream team reunited for ever.

Marjorie enjoyed dancing and liked nothing better than a jive or classic waltz with Geof and could often be seen rocking out to The Beach Boys, Status Quo and The Beatles. She enjoyed travelling, caravanning adventures in Spain & Portugal and liked nothing more than spending time with her family and beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Harvey & Owen. In her school years Marjorie was an accomplished athlete & high jumper and always won the mum's race at Neil & Alison's sports days. She enjoyed watching Athletics and would often lock herself away for days on end during the Olympics to cheer on Team GB (she particularly enjoyed watching David Emery and Roger Black, but that's a different story).

Marjorie's love and compassion for children was always at the forefront of her mind and her kindness and passion to act, educate and empower her own children, grandchildren and pupils was relentless.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private funeral service will be held at Sherwood Forest Crematorium, Boughton on Tuesday 1st September and Marjorie's family would love you to join them for lunch and to raise a glass or two (of Vimto) in celebration of her life immediately thereafter at The Maypole Inn at Wellow.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu of flowers will be for Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
