Thinking of you all at this time.
Geofrey Wilfred Raynor (11 Jul 1934 - 15 Jul 2020)
Funeral Director
Geofrey Wilfred Raynor, a retired Service Engineer and life-long resident of Edwinstowe in Nottinghamshire died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Mansfield Woodhouse on 15 July 2020 at the age of 86 years.
Geof was born in July 1934 to Arthur (Paddy) and Alice Raynor and worked as a Service Engineer for Dowty Mining at collieries throughout the UK and across the world. He married his sweetheart, Marjorie Hough, at St Mary's Church in Edwinstowe and welcomed his two beautiful children, Neil and Alison into the world shortly thereafter.
Geof enjoyed motorsport (competitively rallying historic Mini's with the Dukeries Motor Club and watching Formula 1), travelling, caravanning adventures, BBQ's and liked nothing more than spending time with his family and beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Harvey & Owen. Music played a big part in Geof's life, where he tirelessly supported his children in the Dukeries Comprehensive School Concert Band and fundraising for the Music Development Group, enjoyed watching live musical theatre and later in life, singing with the Dukeries Community Voices Choir. A keen animal lover, Geof enjoyed walking his dogs Bruno and Harvey in Sherwood Forest.
Geof taught us what it meant to be a wonderful husband, dad and grandad. He was firm in his principles and supportive as the children and grandchildren began to seek their own way. He encouraged and comforted without judgement and always responded with the greatest gift of unconditional love.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at St Mary's Church in Edwinstowe on 19 August 2020 at 3.30pm followed by committal at Sherwood Forest Crematorium, Boughton. Geof's family would love you to join them to raise a glass in celebration of his life immediately thereafter at the Dog & Duck, Old Clipstone.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Mary's Church.
