Funeral Director
In loving memory of David Hugh Craig who sadly passed away at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, on 1st August, three days before his 79th birthday, after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer and died peacefully with his children by his side.
David was born in Gravesend on 4th August 1941 and grew up in Wellington Street. He attended the Holy Trinity C.E. School. He contracted Polio as a child and was very poorly for a period of time so his secondary school education was short lived. David's beloved Mother died of Leukemia when he was 13 and he was then brought up by his Grandmother. He learnt to play the guitar and was a member of 2 very successful bands in the 1960s called The Casuals and The Downbeats. In 1967 David married Marion Lillie and they went on to have a son called Jason and a daughter called Sarah. David lived happily in Gravesend all his life and worked hard as a welder until his retirement.
David's funeral will be held at 12.00 on Monday 24th August but due to the COVID-19 restrictions, only a limited number of people are allowed at his funeral so the attendance is invitation only. David's children will be giving him one last tour of Gravesend on route to his funeral, including his childhood home in Wellington Street, so if you happen to be in the town between 11.00-12.00 on Monday 24th August, please look out for him.
There will be family flowers only but Memorial donations can be made made on-line via this page to the “Valley Hospital Charity” at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, or alternatively by referencing David’s name, on their website, www.valleyhospitalcharity.org.uk, or by cheque made payable to the “Valley Hospital Charity” and sent to:
