It is with great sadness that the family of Christine June Hardy announce her sudden passing as a result of a previously undiagnosed brain aneurysm on Monday 29th June 2020, at the age of 75.

Christine passed away in the house that she loved and will be greatly missed by her husband of 33 years, Mike, her daughters Charlotte (Paul) and Hannah (Glenn), stepsons Jon Paul (Lisa) and Phil (Donna) and her grandchildren Jacob, Eva, Dylan and Riley and step-grandchildren Kyle, Emily, Louis, Alicia, Ted and Joe.

Christine taught for most of her career at Arnovale Junior School and was a lifelong cooking and gardening enthusiast. She had a natural talent for interior design and this led to a beautiful house and she was able to advise all family members on their own home design choices. Her proficiency of the English language and her grammatical knowledge benefit the whole family (and their friends!) in all areas enabling many accomplishments and achievements.

The funeral service will be held at Gedling Crematorium, Catfoot Ln, Lambley, Nottingham NG4 4QH at 12:30pm on Tuesday 28th July. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restriction, only those personally invited will be able to attend.

Although you may wish to send flowers, instead please consider making a charitable donation to Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Charity (see link on the right of this screen) of which Christine was an avid supporter due to the illness affecting both her and other members of the family.

For those attending the funeral, please consider wearing an item of blue as this was Christine's favourite colour and she wouldn't have wanted everyone to be dressed only in black.

I first met Chris when we were at Ashford Grammar School together 60 years ago. She was my bridesmaid in 1966 and we always kept in touch with visits to Nottingham and visits to us in Kent.As Mike said in his wedding speech we also had the honour of attending all her weddings!!!! Since my husband died 2 years ago she rang me regularly for a chat. I so miss hearing her voice. Lots of love to Mike Charlotte Hannah and families. Also to Ken. Chris and Mike were so kind to him.xxxxx

My parents lived next door but one to Christine and the girls, Charlotte and Hannah in Cambridge Gardens. So for me I will always be so grateful to Christine because at the age of 13 they asked my parents if I would be one of Hannah’s Godmothers. Christine wanted someone young to be in Hannah’s life. Well we have certainly always been in their lives. Chris and Mike always made sure we were invited to all the occasions birthday parties, celebrations and of course weddings or we just met up for a catch up. There was always a big welcome and plenty of food on offer. Christine most definitely was so proud of her family and did so much for them including helping both girls by looking after grandchildren, this enabled both Hannah and Charlotte to get back to work full time. A beautiful lady who is going to be missed so much. My parents Cynthia and Harry pass on their love as well. xxxx

Chris and I became friends at college over 50 years ago. We had many happy times together and were part of a lovely group of friends. We lost contact for a while but got together 6 years ago for a college reunion. Since then we have kept contact and both Barry and I have enjoyed spending some time with Chris and Mike, both at their home and ours. We were looking forward to many more such occasions and are really sorry that will not now happen. I am so happy that we did get together again, and did not leave it too late. I will always remember her with affection and as a lovely person to have as a friend. I will miss her and think of her often. Sending love to all her family at this sad and difficult time xxx

We always loved our "special occasion" outings with Chris and Mike, visiting many and varied restaurants over the last thirty or more years!! Chris was always a very special lady who adored Mike and all her family. We will miss her very much.

Such as sad time. Chris was one of my closest and dearest friends for over 30 years. I’ll miss the times we spent together having lunch, going to the cinema, laughing and putting the world to rights! I will miss her so very much.

Christine was so friendly and kind, as a child I spent a lot of time at her house with both Charlotte and Hannah. She was always so welcoming and happy for me to be there . They always included me in everything they did including the trips to the little chef which I thought were epic! Rest in peace

  • Mum loved having you stay and it was a particular family joke that when you ate your meal, you started from one side of the plate and finished at the other with a perfect line going across as you are regardless of food type. Many thanks for your kind words. Charlotte and Hannah xxx
