In loving memory of Donald Bevan who sadly passed away on 5th July 2020
Donald (Don) Bevan Started his life in Wood Lane, Dagenham and stayed in the town for many years. After leaving Lymington Road Secondary School, his first job was as a runner at The Star newspaper in Farringdon Road London, a brief spell at Bates Mineral Water followed and then he begun on his paint spraying career - first with Robsons Paint and Sterling enamelling and then with Briggs, the forerunner to Fords of Dagenham, where he stayed until retirement. He did though change careers with Fords after passing his HGV in the early 1970s and felt he had achieved the dream job as a long distance lorry driver.
Don married his childhood sweetheart Joan whom he met when he was 15 and settled down as a family man. Two children followed and then grand children and one great grandson. Don and Joan moved to Sutton Bridge in Lincolnshire after retirement and made many new friends and memories. They joined the local bowls club and became members of the Sutton Bridge constitutional club too.
Don sadly succumbed to a recent stroke and on 5 July he passed away peacefully in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. He leaves behind Joan, his wife of almost 63 years, Lee his son and Donna his daughter, grandchildren Emily, Jack, Jonathan, his wife Cecilia, Anthony and Harrison and great grandson Theodore plus his two surviving older sisters June and Joan.
