In Loving Memory of our brother Sean McGovern who tragically passed away 6th May 2020.

Sean was sadly pre deceased by his beloved mother Delia McGovern just one day prior on 5th May 2020 and his lovely sister Angela last year.

Sean was a loving son to Delia, brother to Maureen, Christine, Collette. Uncle to Natalie, Laurie, Rebecca, Justine, Brogan and Tamara, Great Uncle to Raphael and Phoenix.

We would like to thank you all for your wonderful tributes, messages and support we have received.

Sean was intelligent, quick witted, well read, lover of arts and culture, with a wicked sense of humour, his infectious laugh causing others to join in. He was an excellent communicator, keeping in touch with family and friends across the world.

Sean was proud of his Irish working class background, he was a dedicated campaigner for Disabled Workers Rights.
We couldn't be prouder of Sean, his life's work with the Trade Unions and his employment was his legacy to the world.
It is so difficult to believe that our Sean has gone from us forever.

Rest in Power Brother
You will always hold a special place in our hearts.

If you wish please write a message on the Funeral Guide page to be compiled into a special memorial book for Sean.

*COVID-19*
Our apologies for late update regarding attending Sean's funeral (date and time at the top of this page) we were hoping that the number of people attending funerals may have increased, sadly that is not the case and still only 10 people allowed to attend.
Lots of people have kindly expressed their wish to say a final goodbye and pay their respects, for which the family are truly grateful. Sean will be leaving alongside his Mum Delia at 10am from Portland Grove SW8, alternatively you can pay your respects to Sean outside the crematorium (address is above).
For those of you who would like to watch Sean's funeral here is the video link.

"Under 4th Geneva Convention (on Human Rights) Israel has failed to fulfill its obligation to provide vaccines to all 4.5 million Palestinians living under its military occupation in West Bank, East Jerusalem, & Gaza Strip. ...... the Covid-19 vaccinations chart shows Israel’s remarkable achievement in vaccinating many of "its" citizens." Seán was a great trade unionist and a passionate campaigner. We couldn’t have hoped for a more dedicated champion for disabled people's rights on the TUC General Council - or for a more kind and decent man.

Watched your funeral this morning Sean. Your beautiful poems read by your nieces and a wonderful tribute from your nephew. A great choice of music. A day I will never forget, and I will always remember a life well lived.
Farewell my friend and comrade.

I was Sean's workmate for 9 years and also his comrade in UNITE where I was the Equality Rep and he was the shop steward. We were also involved in disability issues in Lambeth through DASL where we both worked. Both being Irish and having a love of poetry, literature and Irish culture we had many a lively chat at work about this. I always admired Sean's passion and dedication to social justice both for workers and for disabled people. He didn't suffer fools gladly but was always willing to help others. I will miss him as a friend and colleague. I have just taken up the baton from him as shop steward at our workplace and hope that I can do as good a job as he did. Farewell comrade! I will never forget you.

Just Watched Sean's funeral. This is for you friends and family

Farewell Brother Sean
So sad to hear of the passing of Sean
A true activist, real warrior and fine union man
Another fallen hero of our movement
We have blocked many a road over the decades
Manned too many barricades for our and others rights
He as much as any united the fights for rights
As another Danner bites the dust
Leaves another empty chair at our table
His compassion, passion and spirit remains with us
As we continue our struggle for social justice
Rest in Peace comrade Sean
We promise never to rest until the war is won
Farewell brother Sean gone but never forgotten
