In loving memory of Harry Raby who sadly passed away on 28th May 2020
Born 1940 to Harry & Kathleen Raby, eldest brother to Danny, Sandra & Janet. My dad lived on Rother Terrace, Canklow and enjoyed playing in the woods around Boston Castle. Attended South Grove School.
He had many jobs including steel worker, bus driver, security guard and museum attendant. My Dad was hard working and well respected by his colleagues.
He married my mum Shirley Castledine in 1963, I was born in 1965. I had a happy child hood, and consider myself to be a ‘daddy’s girl’. Great memories of holidays, Christmas etc.
I married Rich in 1989 and was so proud as my dad not only gave me away but was the photographer as well. When Matt was born in 1992, my Dad was there to support me through a difficult period in my personal health. He was a proud grandfather of Matt and lived to see him graduate and get married to Jordan, his wife.
Sadly my parents split up in the mid 90’s and ultimately divorced.
A few years after their divorce, my Dad meet Eileen (he had known her ever since growing up in Canklow) and was welcomed and loved by Eileen’s family as a father, grandfather and great grandfather. At this time he worked with Eileen in care homes in Yorkshire.
My dad always had a love of dogs and enjoyed walks with Eileen and their dogs in North Yorkshire.
He died at home with Eileen exactly where he wanted to be.
My Dad was a generous, warm person, who thought of others first in the many things that he did.
He will be deeply missed by everyone.
Love you Dad.
