In loving memory of Brian Neil MacTaggart who sadly passed away on 20th May 2020, aged 79 years.

Brian will be forever missed by his loving family, Wife Pat, Children Teresa, Michael and Steven. Step Children Darren and Kerry whom he has raised as his own from a very young age. His 9 Grandchildren, Josh, Rebekah, Phoebe, Jack, Ruby, Holly, Harry, Max and Ella and was pleased to welcome and spend time with James and Simon who joined the family in later years. His two brothers Ron and David and their families and all the great friends he made during his life.

Brian was a popular man with many good friends and a great sense of humour that we will all remember in his memory. He was hard working and would always place looking after his family at the top of his priority right up until ill health sadly slowed him down in the latter years of his life.

Brian loved nothing more than hearing how the grandchildren progressed and grew and always enjoyed it when the family were together.

His personality will leave a big void in all of our lives as he touched so many over the years. As his family we would love to hear your stories and memories of him. Please post memories of Brian below so we can all celebrate his life together.

Sadly, in the times we find ourselves in the funeral will be private with only 10 members of immediate family allowed. We will be posting a link to the service in due course and would love as many of you as possible to join the webcast live on the day.

Family flowers only please but if desired, donations in memory of Brian may be made for Cancer Research UK via this site.

Thank you
Pat and Brian's whole family

Brian - it has been my honour to have you in my life for so long, so many memories of fun and laughter from being young 20 somethings rolling through your door giggling drunk to many more years of get togethers / bbq’s / meals and family events. You watched us girls grow and become married women and mothers all the time guiding us along with your pearls of wisdom and love. You always showed such interest in our lives and never failed to check up on my girls asking after them supporting their passions of football and the horses and spoiling them whenever you could get away with it. Rest easy now and enjoy a good pint or two, much love always Natalie, Karl, Jessika and Rebekka xxx

Brian was always there for my brother and I growing up across the road in Chart Place. He would always be there for us if we needed him, always have good advice to share with us and would always be willing to teach us about discipline, respect and most importantly how to help with the washing up after dinner!

I have amazing memories of this strong, reliable, sometimes stubborn, entertaining man that will be with me forever. He was a great man, will always be remembered and will be sadly missed by all xxx

My sincere condolences go out to Brian’s family at this sad time, thinking of you all xxx

It is hard to put into words what a true gent and friend you were to me. Brian faced every problem with a positive attitude and had strength in character that I hope I can even have half of it. Brian brought me into his family with open arms and always took time to listen and guide me on the best route to follow. I will miss the chats about his beloved Liverpool (they will win the league) and yes ill make sure to keep my tomato plants cut back, as he always reminded me. I will miss you loads Brian and thank you so much for all the great times xx

Always asking after Bill and the boys and rolling your eyes at me with a wink when I went on to moan about them lol! You will be sorely missed by all of us. But I have a lifetime of memories to treasure. Last years gin party with you and grandad sat in tinsel wigs with blow up trumpets, always laughing always smiling. Rest in peace Brian. Xxx

Brian was in every sense a truly "gentle"man (although he might not have appeared so to the opposition when he was playing). I shall always treasure his friendship and shall miss his sense of humour, his death leaves a large gap in our Smallholders version of the "Last of the Summer Wine". God bless you, Brian, and thanks for all those wonderful memories

Were to begin? so much to say but sadly out of time. You've always treated me as your own and I've never felt like I wasn't, that is the type of man you were and I thank you for that. We've had some many laughs, happy, sad times and stubborn indifference (both of us :)) over the years but I have so many great memories that I will always treasure and look back on. You were an amazing Grandad to Max and Ella who will miss you so much and talk about you often. They will miss having you as their ally when I call you to moan - as I often did and you would tell me to let them be, they are good kids! I will really miss our chats and times together. We will keep Mum safe and hope that after all you've been through you can now rest in peace. We will love and miss you always xx

Brian was a genuine gentleman whose happy & open personality was a joy to so many people.
I will miss Brian's company, humour & friendship but console myself with so many fond memories - Mackays, The Bell, Gills, Wigmore Club, etc, etc.
A passionate Liverpool supporter, Brian would have delighted in the celebrations at lifting the Premiership trophy for the first time.
R.I.P my friend, it was the greatest pleasure to have known you!
