In loving memory of John Neville Aitchison who sadly passed away on 18th May 2020.

Peter Winters wrote

I am so sorry to hear about John's passing. I worked quite closely with John about 15 years ago as we developed online research methods with doctors, and we used to meet up from time to time for lunch. He was always so curious about how things could be done better. Since I have moved to Canada, that has been more limited to online contacts and emails. John was such a brilliant bloke, and a leader in his field. My thoughts are with his family. Peter (Winters)

Oh no... i hadn't heard the news, although i should have known due to his quietness on Twitter but these are very strange times. I am so sorry, John was quite simply a brilliant guy, I was lucky enough to meet him right at the begining of my MR career and although I didn't see him often it was also such a pleasure when i did. It must span over 20 years and i am glad that i got to spend some time with him last year at the BHBIA conference, he was alwasy so kind and supportive and we always laughed a LOT! RIP John and thank you for everything

I knew John, mostly from the BHBIA events and conferences, and from working with / for him. We had not spoken for a while - I guess as paths change and unimportant things take over. I remember him for his generosity of time, and the skirmishes of wit that made speaking with him so enjoyable. I learnt a lot from this chap - he gave all he met a voice and he was a great listener. I shall miss him. Richard
