In loving memory of Malcolm John Clarke who sadly passed away unexpectedly on 30th April 2020
Malcolm was a great family man. He adored his 3 sons, Lewis, Ashley and Connor. As they were growing up he shared their interests, encouraged them to do their best and to make the most of life. He championed them in all they did and was their greatest supporter.
Malcolm was an intelligent, sensitive and intuitive man who had a real 'joie de vivre'. He had an amazing sense of humour and made you laugh even when the joke was on you. He loved talking to people and always seemed to find something to talk about with anyone, often making friends of strangers and making newcomers feel welcome.
Malcolm loved music, a massive punk fan in the 70s, his favourite band was the Clash. But he wasn't narrow in his choice of music and listened to and enjoyed all kinds from classical to punk to Stevie Wonder to Joni Mitchell just to name a few.
Malcolm enjoyed travelling and had visited the USA, Russia and most countries in Europe. He was an avid reader and historian. He liked learning and the pursuit of knowledge and was able to retain information in an incredible way. He was rarely wrong on his facts!
Malcolm loved football. Growing up 'he always had a football at his feet' and was a talented footballer with 'a power shot like Hasselbaink'! He supported Chelsea as a lad, then Charlton Athletic for many years and of course England!
Malcolm was articulate and quick minded, he was always true to himself and would say what was on his mind. He was of the firm opinion that you shouldn't live life on your knees shown by his fondness of the phrase: Nemo me impune lacessit. Above all, Malcolm believed in being fair and standing up for what was right - this inner kindness shone through.
Malcolm was an amazing human being and we will miss him incredibly.
