In loving memory of the late Michael Dobbie who sadly passed away on 11th May 2015

Born in St.Albans, Michael served 10 years in the RAF and became an air/sea rescue helicopter pilot. With a life long love of rugby, Michael was always active. Serving on St.Ives town council and the carnival committee for many years. He later served on Godmanchester council. Michael was a driving instructor and taught many local residents of the St.Ives area to drive.

Fond memories of my uncle Mike, who was 13 when I was born. My earliest memories of him are at my grandparents house in St. Albans when he had a motorbike, and later when he was in the RAF serving in Aden. I also recall him diving into the swimming pool at my 21st and hitting his nose on the bottom! Sending love to his children and grandchildren.

I have known Mike since my childhood and my endearing memory is that of his razor sharp wit and sense of humour! Through all of his endeavours and lifes twists and turns he never seemed to lose the charm and charisma that made him such a likeable chap. In the late eighties he taught me to drive (and pass) demonstrating the patience of a Saint! Later, he very kindly offered to video our wedding which we still enjoy watching to this day. It was a pleasure and an honour to have known him and may he rest in peace.

I have fond memories from the care free days of the Seventy’s, during the long hot school summer holidays Mike would take Karl & I as kid’s on various fishing trips around the country & I recall a memorable trip to see Concorde take off from London Airport.......all very exciting stuff as a youngster. The added joy of these trips was to take a ride in one of Mike’s latest new company car.......happy days indeed.
