In loving memory of David Lloyd Hinde who sadly passed away on 5th May 2020
David was born 31st December 1957 in Doddinghurst to Lloyd and Eileen Hinde, in a bedroom at a New Years Eve party! He dined off the fact that the whole world celebrated his birthday on this day for the last 62 years.
David grew up in Basildon being the second eldest, junior to Lorraine and older to Mark and Karen.
He often spoke of how he was an undefeated boxer in Basildon, won 1 and drew 1!
as he was entering his teens he moved with his family to Hawkwell and this was the beginning of the longest friendship of Steve McCarthy who is the brother of Karen who would go on to be his wife of 42 years.
At 16 Dave joined the army and was always proud of this, however true to the David we all know and love, it was too much for him to be away from his family and so an army career, it turned out, wasn’t for him. Not all was lost as later in his life he would dedicate his free time to the army cadets and mentor many teenage children, here he made lifelong friends and was a part of his life that he was so proud of, regularly reminding us he ‘has medals ya know!’
Dave had strong work ethics and worked hard his whole life, starting out working on the highways with the council, moving in to the world of metal fabrication with his friend Steve where he perfected the skill and became well known for his craft. Again here, he made life long friends.
In 1977 David married Karen McCarthy and so began the family Dave, Karen, Steve and Dawn.
Not content there Dave and Karen went on to foster teenagers and children and dedicated their time to support them in whatever way it was needed.
Then naturally the family grew to the birth of his grandchildren, Thomas and Harry. His proudest moment yet.
Dave loved his entire family and friends and befriended everyone he met. nothing was too much trouble and would always help anyone where he could.
He was generous and caring not to mention protective of all who he cared for.
He enjoyed life, he loved seeing the world as much as he did being at home with family and friends and every party will be a little quieter without him.
for someone who was generally healthy and strong, he became very unwell recently and was admitted to hospital with renal failure, here he was diagnosed with Cancer which we were told he wouldn't be cured, luck was not on his side and the fates weren't finished, while in hospital he contracted Covid19 and unfortunately after giving it a good fight, it was stronger than him, not much was.
The passing of David seems untimely and unjust and whilst we will sorely miss him, we all have different memories of him, so please feel free to share them below, it’s these memories that we should seek comfort from and remember his words ‘what you grizzling for?’ as he hated to see anyone upset and often if not always went out of his way to make you smile.
We will be saying our formal farewell to David 2nd June, 3:40pm at Southend Crematorium. Due to the strange situation we are finding ourselves in there are restrictions for attendance and so sadly, at this time we ask you to stay at home and pay your respects however you feel you need to. When we are allowed to be together we will be holding David’s interment and celebration of life in the way he loved most. Being together with everyone and smiling.
So today we ask that if you see it as appropriate, not to buy flowers, but to donate to the Neptune Ward at Southend. They are looking to make a special relaxation area for the teenage patients. Something that is much needed and something Dave would have supported as he had already given so much for teenagers During his life.
God bless you Dave.
