In loving memory of Peter Anthony Burry who sadly passed away on 2nd May 2020

Our beloved dad, Peter, was a true family man, dedicated to his wife, Ann, his three children, Sally, Aimee and Daniel and his grandchild, Annice, whom he adored.

He was creative, supportive and generous with his time and an ever present part of our lives.

We always knew that we could call upon mum and dad and they would be there for us regardless of time or request.

Dad was also generous of spirit in supporting the community in which he and mum lived and fought tirelessly to preserve the idyllic environment, the wildlife and the natural beauty of what is a close knit family centred neighbourhood. He was always willing to speak up for the rights and wellbeing of others and we were immensely proud.

He loved his dog, Rafa, and spoilt her terribly! And many of our photos feature Dad and Rafa together.

He could always be found in the garden, pottering and creating new things for the home out of the items that he had retrieved from skips, had donated or repurposed from something no longer used  and made into such wonderful and ingenious things!!!! His boiler house is a monument of wonder!!!!

Dad left us all suddenly on Saturday 2nd of May, and we haven’t had the chance to tell him how much he was loved, how grateful we are to have had him in our lives and how thankful we are for everything he did for us.

He leaves a massive hole, not only in our lives but in the community around him. Dad is irreplaceable and nothing will be the same without him.

Rest in peace Uncle Peter, you've been taken from us all much too soon. I will always remember Uncle Peter from my childhood as a happy, friendly relaxed man, who never had a bad thing to say and always had a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. People have been kindly sharing memories, so here is one of mine - one Christmas when I was around 10 years old I was the recipient of a small book with a dragon on the cover, similar to one Peter had recently crafted out of modelling clay. The model was an amazing piece of art with incredible detail, and the book was called The Hobbit and has been read many times since.
Ann, Sally, Aimee and Dan please accept our deepest condolences from the Whitaker family: Jonathan, Wendy, Harry and Madeleine, our thoughts are with you at this time X

It is so sad that Peter is no longer with us. Having known him for most of my life, it is as though part of me has been taken also. He was such a lovely friend to me and, I know, a wonderful family man. I am so pleased I was able to see him last February, albeit, for the first time in 10 years. It was then that we both agreed we should see each other more often, unfortunately, that is now not going to happen.

My sincere condolences to Ann and all Peter's family, I cannot imagine how you must be feeling at this dreadful time. My love and thoughts to you all. x

Oh how sad!
Having effectively stupidly lost contact over the years I met Peter and Ann and their children again earlier this year. We discussed getting together for a catch-up and were then overtaken by the virus. I shall always regret this.
Goodbye Peter, you were a lovely bloke.
My sincere sympathies to Ann, Sally, Aimee, Daniel and Annice.

A year of terribly sad news. So long Uncle Pete, taken far to soon and will be missed dreadfully. Such a lovely man, always happy to see us and I'll miss our lengthy talks about various DIY endeavors with varying degrees of success. I'll remember kind acts such as the time he spent all of Christmas eve running me around trying to help me fix my failing boiler so I could have the family over for Christmas dinner. We managed it by late afternoon, he really helped save the day.
Our deepest condolences to Ann, Sally, Aimee and Dan, we are so sorry for your loss. XXXX
