In loving memory of Michael Stanley Seaman who sadly passed away on 29th April 2020.
Dad, Michael, Mike, was a very quiet and unassuming gentlemen and we hope that you will be able to join us virtually / digitally / online on Tuesday May 12th at 10am to say a final farewell.
For those that do not know, dad was admitted into hospital on March 17th with a fairly minor problem and remained there as his health deteriorated over the following weeks. In that time, and much against our wishes, he was moved between three hospitals and five different wards. That experience was very traumatic but he rarely complained or showed his frustration.
We are so grateful that his final days were spent in The Catherine Monk Ward at Basildon Hospital where he was looked after by some amazing people. His main nurse was called Gayle and Dani the Chaplain made a number of visits to check in on him and importantly let us know how he was doing.
They offered us the opportunity to see dad via an Ipad and this really made all the difference to us as a family giving us a chance to see him, speak with those looking after him and to say our goodbyes. They made sure that he kept hold of the photo of the grand children mum had sent in with him right until the very end.
As a result we would like to help the charity that made this possible.
On the charity page of this site you will find a link to the RNIB which dad supported over many years.
However, the Ipad charity has to be listed below as they do not have a just giving page which is a requirement to donate via this online obituary donation page.
This wonderful small charity was only set up a few weeks ago to raise money to get IPads in to wards to help patients and their families have contact or say their goodbyes.
With dad being in hospital just as lock down started we had not seen him for so long. It was heartbreaking. But due to this amazing charity we all got to have that much wanted opportunity to say our goodbyes. It made a huge difference.
If you feel that you are able to donate to help other families please look them up on Facebook.
For some reason the link will not work on here.
The group page is called

I will also share it on my Facebook page.
Thank you for being dads friends over the years and thank you all for your kind thoughts at this time.
As soon as we are able we will be planning a day to celebrate dads life with all of you in person.
There will be great food, lots to drink and hopefully some laughter too....just as he would want.
Please share a memory or add a few words or a photo on this virtual obituary page. We would love it if you would.
Helen, David, Vivienne and all of the family xxxx
