In loving memory of Dorothy June Pates who sadly passed away on 19th April 2020. Dorothy (Dot) was the wife of the late Derek Pates, married for nearly 60 years. Dorothy was the daughter of Florence and John Huddlestone.

Dot as she was known to most, was mother to Graeme and June, she also had four Granddaughters, a great granddaughter and great grandson.

Dot worked most of her life for the Co-op in retail, she was also a machinist in her early years. Later she worked alongside her daughter June cleaning at a Veterinary Surgery.

Dot had a real love of dogs and had one all her married life, her move into a care home, just over a year ago, was the only time without one. Kayleigh her granddaughter gave her beloved Yorkshire terrier Max, a new forever home.
Dot loved to listen to live music/bands, something she had in common with her brother-in-law Gordon and the pair, who were great friends, would go to various pubs and often followed her son Graeme to different venues when he played as part of a band.
Dot also took up darts in her early thirties and has a few shields under her belt!

Dot was diagnosed with the onset of dementia 13 years ago which gradually worsened over the last year after the death of Derek.

Dot will be sorely missed by all her family, friends and old neighbours and also by staff and residents at Giltbrook Carehome.

Dot will leave us with some lovely, funny and treasured memories forever.

What a lovely lady - Met her a couple of times when she was with my mammy in her care home, she wanted me to take her with me when I left. Underneath Alzheimer's there is still someones mother/grandma/sister/friend the illness just makes it harder to see them always, but now and again they shine through, just for moments & those become the moments we all treasure. The Dot I met I could still see a feisty lady & lovely at the same time. God bless her x
