In loving memory of Eileen Wyatt who sadly passed away on 26th March 2020
Eileen Wyatt (1923-2020)
Eileen Paulson as she was then was born in 1923 and lived in Bracebridge Heath. She was 16 when the Second World War broke out and started work at Waddington railway station soon after as a booking clerk. It was a small station but quite busy with the comings and goings to nearby RAF Waddington. She was moved to Lincoln station and there met Alfred Hennell who was a fireman on the railway. They were married in 1945 and a year later Gillian was born, but due to complications lived only for two days. She was advised not to have any more children, but thankfully she ignored that advice and I was born in 1947. At that time we lived in Spital Street off Newport.
Four years later tragedy struck when my Father died of Polio.
Mum brought me up with the help of my Grandparents and eventually helped me through University and training to be a Chartered Accountant. We moved to the Ermine Estate in 1962. In 1971 I married Pam and two years later Mum married Frederick Wyatt a long term customer at Chambers Flower shop where she worked for many years. My Grandma died about the same time and Mum and Fred moved in with Grandad at Brancaster Drive off Boultham Park Road, to look after him.
Mum and Fred went on many holidays abroad usually with friends and were superb Grandparents to Sarah, Sophie and Alexander, taking them to the seaside and stopping with them after Christmas so We could go skiing. She was also a loving Nan to Fred's Grandaughter Shelley.
Grandad died in 1984 and both Mum and Fred retired soon afterwards. They enjoyed many more years together until Fred's health began to fail, and he died in 2011.
Mum lived on her own for about four years supported by home help, but they only had time for the bare essentials and life was lonely. Eventually she moved to Tanglewood Care Home in Horncastle, which gave her a new lease of life, with carers with whom she could share a joke, and plenty of company. She had six happy years there joining in with all the activities and especially enjoyed playing dominoes.
Mum's Christian faith was very important to her throughout her life and she faithfully prayed every night before sleeping. We always knew that she would be praying for us all which was a great comfort.
In March she contracted a chest complaint and died peacefully in her sleep on 26 March 2020.
