In loving memory of Sidney Leonard HINDS who sadly passed away on 23rd April 2020.

Sid was born in 1930 and lived with his two brothers and sister in the village of Shuttington near Tamworth. After leaving school and taking work with his father and brothers at a nearby pit, Sid was diagnosed with a serious lung condition and, following surgery, was forced to quit his job and take work at a village farm.

Sid met his first wife, June, and began working at Foseco (BP) where the extra money was much welcomed with the family additions of his son Graham and daughter Julie. Shortly after the arrival of Sid's first grandson he tragically lost his wife June following a battle with cancer.

It was several years later when Sid met Sylvia on holiday in Scotland and it was not long before they both sold their existing homes and bought a bungalow in the village of Kegworth. They married soon after and enjoyed themselves taking holidays around the world whilst their families continued to grow with further grand-children and great-grandchildren.

After Sid suffered a very serious heart attack whilst on holiday (again in Scotland) and several subsequent illnesses, he and Sylvia decided to move to the Lark Hill Retirement Village in Clifton, Nottingham - a move that Sid often described as; "The best thing I ever did".

The move to Lark Hill gave Sid (and Sylvia) a new lease of life where they developed a whole new host of friends and new social circles.

Sadly, Sid's health started to take a turn for the worse at the end of 2019 and despite a few relapses he finally succumbed in the comfort of his own home and alongside his wife on the morning of Thursday 23rd April.

Words cannot express how much he will be missed by his wife Sylvia, his children, his step-children, his seven grand-children and his nine great grandchildren.

Sid's funeral will be held at Wilford Hill on Thursday 14th May. Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions, only Sid's immediate family may attend.

Sid's family request that no flowers be sent to his funeral but would welcome any donations to either The British Heart Foundation or to the ExtraCare (Lark Hill) Charity. Donations to Extracare can be made either directly by cheque to the funeral directors C. Terry or through Extacare's website at: https://www.extracare.org.uk/giving-to-extracare/

Me and Sid. We had some laughs. This photo was taken just after Sid and I had been mistakenly eating someone else's peanuts at a bar in Center Parcs! I'm going to miss you buddy.
