In loving memory of David Stanley Wood who sadly passed away on 21st April 2020, aged 79 years.

David was born in Ilford on 1st September 1940 and emigrated to New Zealand in 1954 when he was 14 years old with his parents and younger sister, Valerie. This is where David found new construction skills by building alongside his father the bungalow they lived in, which was an achievement he was very proud of. After finishing his schooling he began work in the New Zealand government offices.

At the age of 21 in 1961 he returned to England with his family although he never lost his love of New Zealand which stayed with him for the rest of his life. He met and married Isobel in 1963 and they settled on the Isle of Sheppey and had their two daughters, moving to Sittingbourne in 1976. He continued working for the Government in England.

David spent nearly 12 years in the Voluntary Royal Observer Corps which he truly enjoyed and love, until it disbanded. He also had a passion for books and military music.

David was a quiet, gentle, caring and unassuming man who showed great love and care for his wife and family. He knew what he liked and wanted and would not easily change his mind. He loved the warmth and sunshine and carried this with him through his life.

David was greatly loved by his family and many friends and will be truly missed by all.
