In loving memory of Mary Laljee who sadly passed away on 20th April 2020
Born in 1937, the eldest of 3 children to Mary And George Edmondson in Birkinshaw, West Yorkshire. She was a St John's cadet nurse, receiving a medal presented by Princess Margaret. She went to do her nurse training at St. Luke's Hospital in Bradford. She became a nursing Sister and then did midwifery training in London and then in York.
She met her beloved husband, Hem in 1961 at St Luke's. David was born in 1964 and Ruth in 1970. She worked in various settings including elderly care, research nurse in Epilepsy and then Marie Curie nursing.
Her retirement from nursing was filled with many things including work with the bereavement service and witness support programmes. A lot of time was spent doting on her grandsons, Ben and Sam.
All her life she loved reading and would devour books often in one sitting if she could. She loved her garden and spent many hours tending and growing plants. She nurtured her family and friends with this same generous and loving heart.
She will be greatly missed by all of us
