Monica West (8 Sep 1924 - 16 Apr 2020)

In loving memory of Monica Jean West who sadly passed away on 16th April 2020.

She lived a long, full and happy life, certain that she wasn't old, even as frailty overcame her.

Born in Knighton, Powys, she had a brother, Fred, and sister, Hilda, both of whom predeceased her. She spent her War years working for the Air Ministry, and in 1946 she joined UNRRA helping Polish families to reunite.

She married Jack in 1949 and they were married for 60 years. During this time they lived in many places, including five years in Singapore where they made many lifelong friends, Derbyshire, Wolverhampton, Cheshire and their final home was in Godalming, Surrey, where they spent retirement 'joy riding' on trips to the south coast. Jack died in 2010.

Monica spent her last four years in Cornwall, to be close to her daughter, Jane.

She was very much loved and is greatly missed by all the family: son, Simon, daughter-in-law, Kathryn and grandson, Ernest; daughter, Jane and son-in-law, John; nieces, Janice and Barbara.
