In loving memory of Dorothy Simpson who sadly passed away on 10th April 2020 aged 88.
Our lovely mum bravely fought various illnesses over the past couple of years but lost the fight with Covid-19.
Mum's dad, Arthur Hall, was a sheetmetal worker - making car parts and her mum Nellie May worked at Boots.
When our mum was born on 30th September 1931 in Blidworth, Notts, her parents and her grandma ran Blidworth Working Mens Club.
Her brother Fred was born in April 1935, Easter Sunday, and mum bought him an Easter egg with caramels in it, she scoffed the lot as she said Fred had no teeth!! He never let her forget!
When they left Blidworth they came to live in Nottingham where mum attended Trent Bridge school. She loved it there and was made school captain in her last year, she thoroughly enjoyed 'the fame'! Mum cried when it was time to leave.
Mums first job was as a bookkeeper/telephonist at C & L E Attenborough Ltd, George Street, Nottingham where she stayed for 6 years. After leaving there she went to work at Marks & Spencer's as a telephonist, but on Saturdays everyone went on the sales floor as it was so busy.
Mum was 23 when she married our dad, David Simpson, sadly they just missed their Diamond Anniversary as he sadly passed away in 2013.
Her daughter Ruth was born in 1956 and her son Mark in 1960. Mum felt her family was now complete.
Mum and Dad moved to Jessops Lane in Gedling and made life long friends with their next door neighbours Mu and Bob and Jean and Ian
Mum and Dad travelled the world and have fond memories of friends in South Africa and Australia.
The delights of her life were her wonderful grandchildren Richard, Jack, Tom and Emma and her great grandchildren Kaylem, Avia, Lily and Hugo Albert.
Now reunited with our much loved Dad.
