In loving memory of Roger John Davis who sadly passed away on 10th April 2020
Dad died peacefully, at home, on Good Friday. He had been living with cancer for many years. He left 3 children and 8 grandchildren who all loved him very dearly. Dad will be remembered by everyone he met as a kind and caring man - and that is the highest accolade anyone could ever wish for.
His humanist funeral will take place on 28th April at Mintlyn Crematorium. Only 10 immediate family are allowed to attend. This will be a very difficult day for us all, due to social distancing and the feeling that Dad isn't getting the send off he deserves.
Dad wanted us to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support. He always spoke of the support and kindness he was shown by the Macmillan nurses at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn and he particularly appreciated their sometimes dark sense of humour - something he has passed on to his children!
For all of those who knew and loved Dad, we will be having a humanist memorial after lockdown (whenever that may be) to scatter Dad's ashes on Brancaster Common, where Dad loved to go blackberry picking. We will be celebrating Dad's life with a picnic, hopefully some blackberry picking and some wild flower seed bombing.
I hope to see many of you there.
In the meantime, if you can donate to Macmillan, it would be greatly appreciated. Charities are under so much pressure due to Covid 19 and Dad wanted other people to benefit from the support he had over the years. Oh, and if you are on a low income, please don't donate - Dad really wouldn't want that.
Thank you all for your support,
Karen x
