In loving memory of the late Stanley Holcroft who sadly passed away on 7th May 2015.

Stan was a loving husband to Nan and dad to Denise, Stan and John, who lost his battle with ill health on May 7th. His last weeks were spent in hospital with his family surrounding him.

Stan doted on all his family but his grandchildren Kayleigh, Heather, Jemma, Lewis, Ricky, Emily, Danny, Evelyn Nathalie and great-grandchildren Oliver, Jessica, Leah and Sophie had a special place in his heart.

Over the years as the family extended Stan embraced a son-in-law and daughters-in-law to the family with his warm and welcoming nature. John, Jane and Lenka were all treated like his own sons and daughters.

Stan was one of 6 children brought up in Crawford village with his brothers and sisters Norah, Betty, Keith, David and Dennis. He had many stories of his childhood in Crawford that he told with fondness.

He had so many nephews and nieces it is difficult to mention them all by name, but he always made them all feel special with fun and jokes.

He enjoyed many happy holidays and enjoyed a special bond with Roger and Catherine.

His passing leaves us heartbroken.

I found this site today while doing family history research. Some years ago I was in e-mail contact with Stan sharing information about our family tree. Stan's father was my granny's brother. My granny was born Ellen Holcroft and was brought up in Crawford. I am so sorry to hear that Stan has passed away and I send my condolences and very best wishes to all his family.

Sleep tight grandad, you have been an inspiration to me growing up. I will never forget the fun I have had spending time with you. Maybe if you filled the treasure drawer up more often, I wouldn't have spent my life tormenting you. Love you. PS Say hi to Popplewell for me!

Stan was the best father-in-law you could wish for and the best grandad to Danny and Nathalie. We all will miss him not coming to visit us in Netherlands and not spending our holidays with him and Nan in Spain.

Dad I love you so much. I cant find the words to describe how heartbroken I feel. You loved us from the bottom of your heart and lived for your family.

You were a great dad and grandad, always making time to engage with the kids on their level. Telling them stories of meeting Santa Claus on the way home cos his sleigh had broken down.

You were always joking with the kids about taking their toys home with you and pretending to put them in your pocket.

I have so many happy memories about the funny sayings that you would come out with....some of them were really daft and I don't know were they came from.

I will miss you so much. Rest in peace Dad.xx

  • This is Dad delivering the evening papers for the shop we had in the 80s and 90s. He kept getting let down by paper boys so he started delivering them his self.
