Marjorie Doris Walshe (26 Aug 1926 - 18 Mar 2020)

Marjorie Doris Walshe (nee Westfield), of Stowmarket and formerly Old Buckenham and Attleborough. Passed away March 18, 2020, aged 93 years. Reunited with her beloved husband, Tom. A wonderful and much-loved mother to Tom, Moira, Sheena and John, grandmother to Amy, Beth, Alice and Fin, great-grandmother to Leila-Doris, Ida and Elsie and mother-in-law to Cynthia and John. Always in our hearts.

A family funeral service was held at Stowmarket Baptist Church on April 1st followed by burial at Stowmarket Cemetery. A further celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held at a later date.

Marjorie was born at Old Buckenham in Norfolk and lived there and at nearby Attleborough before the family moved to Stowmarket in 1970.

Widowed in 1979 when only 53, she took on the running of the household single-handed and, with three children aged 11 to 16 to support, found part-time work as a cleaner to help make ends meet.

Marjorie was entirely selfless, always putting others’ needs first. A deep Christian faith was central to her life, and her family was her world. She was also a talented poet and a prolific artist, adored children, animals, loved music, her garden and wildlife.
