I grew up with uncle John or fireman John as some one that was a constant in our family. Him and Brenda were there every holiday, I used to stay with them when John was fire chief central london in the flat above the fire station. I have so many memories but most prominent were in cliff cottage in Goran haven. He would be sitting on the sofa in the kitchen window and would have his legs crossed and sat back glass if wine in his hand. 'Well, I'll tell you a story about that' or 'I'll tell you what Rick) uncle John gave the best big enveloping hugs, with his big gruff voice. I'm crying writing this. I feel like part of my child hood has just been taken from me. My heart hurts. Him and Bren were two of my parents best friends. They met when my dad taught Chris. Chris later went on to be in my dads band first Boiler house and then second chance after they renamed. Uncle John not only was an amazing person but also in his job saved so so many lives. Always with a sense of humour. He is a huge loss to all who knew him. And my heart goes out to Auntie Brenda to his sons and family. He will never be forgotton xx
