In loving memory of Susan Heald who sadly passed away on 14th March 2020
Susan Heald (Mum) was born on 19.11.44.
She lived her whole life in Bulwell, Nottingham. She loved Bulwell and the community spirit she had growing up in Severn Street.
Mum had a great sense of humour and she loved shopping especially for make-up and perfume. She loved dancing when she was young which is how she met my dad (Alan Heald). They married on 11.3.1967 at St Johns Church, Bulwell. They had three children. William in 1968, Vincent in 1975 and Rosie in 1978.
Mum worked in various job roles. She was trained in shorthand and typing. She worked for various companies over the years, one being a doctor's surgery which she told us about, when a gentleman came in one day with his false teeth for a Doctor Carbury. Mum told him it was the wrong Carbury as he needed the dentist. Mum also told us about her days working at the Sherwood Rooms. Mum served drinks at a kiosk and she liked the people she met through events and parties that were held there. She then became a full time housewife sometime when I was young (Rosie).
We lost my dad in September 2013 which was difficult for my mum. Mums health declined in 2016 after she fell down the stairs at home. She had been struggling with walking for sometime.
Even in the last few months of her life, she still loved her favourite foods, mum liked the simple stuff like egg sandwiches and tomatoes on toast. She used to make a nice Shepherds pie when were kids. Mum also liked the murder mystery dramas on television. Her favourite channel was ITV3.
Mum lived in care homes for the last 4 years of her life. She had moved and settled at Highfields Nursing Home in June 2019 and got on very well with all the lovely staff there. Mum liked to chat up the male carers/nurses as well. She would have a laugh and a joke with them.
Mum was well liked although she did not know it. She never saw herself as popular.
Mum died in hospital on 14.3.2020 from Pneumonia and other underlying health conditions.
It is strange not being able to go and see her anymore and to not to hear her quirky sense of humour. She will be missed but at least we know she is in a better place and free again now.
Funeral takes place on 7.4.2020 at Bramcote Reflection Chapel at 11.15am
