Our beloved Grandad & Great Grandad.
You continue to live on through our memories & in our hearts.
Our last meeting together was so precious. The admiration you & Jacob shared for one another, the giggles and your last words to me 'Kayleigh, I love you.'
Sleep tight

I haven't kept up much with news from school and only found out late last night that Brian had died, so I am truly sorry that I will not be able to attend the funeral and offer my condolences in person. For me, Brian was a stand-out figure in my education. I enjoyed my time in the CCF immensely, and learned a great deal in the process, in very large part due to him. Brian had that rare gift of being able to command respect while also being as close to a friend as any member of staff can be; as cadets we knew that he would look out for us in everything we did. He had a tireless dedication both to the CCF and to helping to bring out the best in each of us, and I will always be grateful to him for that. So I am very sorry to hear of his loss and wish Joan, Jackie, Ian and Michelle, and the rest of the family, my sincere condolences.

Very sad to receive news today that "our" Mr Best had passed away. He looked after his boys in the CCF, regailed us with stories and taught us how to bull our boots. Memories of firing weekends with the South Notts Hussars, Cliff with his suitcase of culinary tricks and a lovely photo proudly wearing his cap badge to boot. Post school enjoying lunches and dinners, adventurous training at Capel Curig and being a wonderful friend when my mother passed away. My memories along with the ON's class of 1985 Army section will last forever. God bless you Mr Best.

Very sad to hear that such a notorious Nottingham High School character had passed away, I last saw him at The Knightsbridge Dinner in Bulwell several years ago. I'm a Major in the Army and still to this day when walking across a grassed area can hear Mr Best shouting at me from afar, "Get off that grass Worley or i'll shove this broom right up your ****!".

A true character and will always be remembered.

BA Best was a big influence on my life at the school (ON 1982-1992). His encouragement within the CCF is one of my favourite memories of time there, his approach to discipline may be seen as "old school" these days, but if his methods were wider applied then maybe parts of broken Britain wouldn't be so broken!

So many happy memories of South Notts Hussars and Dame Agnes Mellers Lodge,Nottingham Conclave and Newsteas Mark Lodge together and never to be repeated - difficult to realise.
Love to Joan and the family - don't hesitate to ask if I can help.
