In loving memory of Colin Donald Grove who sadly passed away on 17th February 2020.

Colin Grove was born on 14th July 1946 in Southampton. His parents were Doris and Don Grove and was brother to Derek and Brian. In his youth he lived in Bitterne Park enjoyed all the experiences of a typical young man of the time, especially cars, bikes and football. Along with his brothers and cousins, they would often take exciting family holidays to Cornwall and the Isle of Wight.

Colin was devoted to two things in life, his family and his career as a Fabrication Engineer. Initially working at British Aerospace, Colin built his skills to ensure a long, successful and exciting career in the industry. With a lathe he was able to craft the most intricate metalwork from raw materials. After British Aerospace a large part and major achievement of his career was establishing his own engineering business called D’Marco Engineering with his brother Derek. Starting your own business is no mean feat but by working together they quickly realised they were a dynamic duo and able to produce products of the highest quality and build a fantastic reputation in the local area. They would often work seven days a week, putting in blood sweat and tears to meet a deadline. The immediate family became intertwined in the business helping out where they could to ensure its success.

Colin was a keen traveller and in his 20s and 30s made many trips around the UK, Europe and the USA.

As well as being kind, generous and loving, Colin dedicated his responsibilities as a father to ensure his children had the very best chance at success by providing great advice and always being available to help. He was devoted to his children (James, Nadia and Chandelle) and loved sharing his travelling experiences with them, often taking them away for trips and sharing his favourite places in the world such as Cornwall, the Lake District and the USA.

Colin was known for telling great stories and providing seemingly expert advice on any subject you cared to discuss. He had keen interest in current affairs, sport, history, geography and horticulture.

In his later life, Colin became a Granddad to Edith in 2014 and William in 2018. They provided Colin with another dimension to his world and his heart would melt at the sight, sound and presence of his two new Grandchildren. Colin will be sadly missed by everyone. He was ever present and reliable and a pillar to the family.

My beautiful dad. I will love you forever. I will miss you so so much. You did everything for me and all those you loved. You truly deserve to rest in peace and that as you said, if God has a plan for you, it will be somewhere very very nice. I will look for you in rainbows.
