Alec was my uncle, and I have some great memories of him from is early day in Nottingham when married to Joan, used to often be treated to journeys in the various lorries he had. My brother Stewart and I, along with another couple of cousins would like to re establish family contacts, is it possible for someone to contact either Ann or David to let them know of our interest in re establishing contact, so much to catch up on. Here’s hoping

I remember my Dad buying me my first Air rifle. He pinned a matchstick to next doors out house and told me when I could hit it, then I would be a master marksman. I had a handful of little silver coloured darts as ammo and started firing at the match. After about half an hour he came out and asked how I was doing. I said that there was something wrong with the sights as I hadn't hit the match once. He said " give me a go, " loaded and took aim. He split the match down the middle with his very first shot!! He then said " there is something wrong with the sights, I tried to light the match ". He was my instant hero... He also told me he could crush marbles in his hand - I believed him after that!!! Sleep tight Dad.

I have so many amazing memories of my Grandad. I remember going for drives in his lorry, taking computers apart in his front room and looking at hundreds and hundreds of old photographs in his loft.

I remember as a child coming up with an amazing idea that I had calculated would save my Grandad over a million pounds every year! How, I hear you cry? Well I figured that because he drove so many miles a year, if he put his lorry in neutral and coasted down hills instead of driving down them he would save... Yes that's right... A million pounds a year. Now you probably think that is silly and the truth is my Grandad probably did too, but my Grandad being my Grandad always coasted down every hill whenever I was in a vehicle with him just to indulge me.

Final memory of my Grandad is from when I was around 11 years old and I asked him if he wanted a kick about in the garden. Grandad who was definitely past his footballing best by then and definitely not that up for a kick about did his Grandad duty and came out for a kick about anyway... Much to my ever lasting shame he nutmegged me the second we got outside (kicked the ball through my legs and ran round the other side) and then without giving me any chance to redeem myself said "I don't think your good enough to play with me yet" and went back inside - probably to fall asleep and snore very loudly in front of the telly!
