In loving memory of the late Peter Killick who sadly passed away on 25th April 2015

Peter a beloved partner to Dee and father to sons James and Andrew, lived in Bermondsey until he passed away at the age of 73year,after a brave battle against cancer.
Pete was born on the Kirby Estate, Jamaica Road during the war years.
He loved his local area, close community ties and family who lived locally, his sisters Carol and Shirley are Bermondsey girls all within short distance of each other.Peters brother Bill moved to Kent a few years ago.
Pete spoke about the great times he spent in Southwark Park playing for many hours, the family,as many Bermondsey families did travelled to Kent,to the Hop farms. These times were happy ,full of hard work but no one minded, they were out in the sunshine and fresh air.
After trying a variety of jobs he became a Mini Cab driver he did this for over twenty years, making a great deal of long standing friends not only locally, but from abroad.

Cornwall was his favourite holiday destination,a place where he could unwind,Dee's home County.
Many fond memories of good food, wonderful company and a few beers! He hated flying ! So kept his feet on terra firma.
Pete was happiest with his home comforts, good company and being around people he loved and knew.
I will miss your loving ways, kindness and company, always in my memory.
God Bless my Darling.

We will have a box for you to place your donations in at the crematorium for both of the chosen charities,as well as on line.

Peter choose two charities, as you see only one has been written in ,the other one is Pelynt Methodist Chapel where my mother worshiped,Pete really wished money to be donated to this chapel in the small village I was brought up in as a child,he loved my Mum and the village, this is his tribute to them both.
We all love flowers,Pete did,but for today he would like one tribute of flowers to be placed on his coffin
From James and myself,he felt it so important to support worthwhile causes,we hope you would agree.
Thanks you all so much Dee & James xx

Read by James for his Father.
Dad standing at the mirror getting ready to go out, putting on his jewelery, his shirt and shoes.
Combing his hair, looking sharp, like a razor blade .
I would ask him, "Dad where you going, he would always reply," Going to see a man about a dog J.
Can I come? Not this time J.In the morning I expected to find another dog in the house.

Dad getting me to help with building stuff. This was always a major adventure when I was a kid.
I of course would be labourer, Mum was on teas and biscuits. I would be in charge of passing all the tools when needed. Asking questions, Whats that for Dad ? Why's that then Dad? He would then explain......
But one thing I could never work out, how Dad could smoke the fag in his mouth the whole time, and ash would never fall off whilst doing all this !!!!!

Dad would come home from work, empty the cloth bag on to the table, takings from a days cabbing.
Dad would get me to count it up with him, saying, "Stack it in £10 lines J, and whatever is left over is your pocket money" Sometimes I would miss count!!!!!!

Holidays in Cornwall were always an adventure when I was a kid.
Last minute packing, where Dad would be always asking Mum where everything of his was,cos he could never find it.
Then there was having to leave double early in the morning all Hush! Hush! like.
Then when on the road, Mum would always tell Dad to Slow Down your driving too fast,
Dad would reply," Dee I have to accelerate to go up a hill"
Cornwall was a place where my Father was always relaxed, he just loved being there.
One of his pleasures was dining out,he always insisted that he bought everyone at the table dinner.
My Father loved to take care of people, he would lean over and say "J,have what you want"

I am very proud to have been raised by an old school Bermondsey Gentleman.
With hard hands and a Gentle Heart.
You Rest Now, Rest Now.
God Bless x

.

You were such a caring man, Peter. I remember how supportive you were when Bill and I married and moved into our house. You were always there for us.
What a laugh we all had round the card table at Edna's, even if we could hardly breathe for the smoke!
You were a lovely man who will be truly missed.
Rest in peace.

Dear Peter,

Dear Peter
Remembering a lovely man who was so kind and caring. Happy days in the Killick house with lots of laughter. Lots of cheating at the card table and always lots of noise. Our trips to hop picking at Marden and you sitting at the camp fire telling scary stories. Remembering the first time i met Dee and then James and seeing how happy you were and continued to be happy and loved.
You will be truly missed by so many. God bless you Peter and rest in peace. Love and kisses xxxx

Its amazing what memories comes back to you when loose a close family member, too many to mention but here are a few;
The time I got in to trouble in Farnborough, you sat me down and had serious words with me!
The time you came to Carter Street to try and get me out!
The times you and I were the last to leave home for hop picking as you had to work late.
Christmas at our house and you throwing all that money up in the air!!
Birthdays, we all knew we would have a visit from yourself!
Late night family card sessions.....and you wasn't a good looser!
Peter most of all remembering how you ALWAYS looked after mum..... how could we ever possibly forget you!
You were a true gentleman to the end. You were a good friend, a great uncle and most of all a great family man.

Dear Father,

I am so grateful that I got to know your truth in your humanity.

The ‘I’, through which you see me, is the same ‘I’, through which I see you.
The ‘I’, through which we see God, is the same ‘I’, through which God sees us.

Namaste,
Your son, Andrew

O Birther! Father-Mother of the Cosmos, focus your light within us—make it useful. Create your reign of unity now; your one desire acts with ours, as in all light, so in all forms. Grant what we need each day in bread and insight. Loose the cords of mistakes binding us, as we release the strand we hold of others’ guilt. Don’t let surface things delude us, but free us from what holds us back. From you is born all ruling will, the power and the life to do, the song that beautifies all; from age to age it renews. Amen
