In loving memory of Mark. A kind and funny friend who was taken too soon. Happy memories for about 40 years.

You and Liz were always so welcoming to me, Mark, and I spent many happy days in my late teens and early 20's as a fairly regular visitor in front of your roaring fire. Our paths would continue to cross over the years, and you never failed to welcome me with a smile and the same warm hello.

I saw you last in Edinburgh for James' birthday last year, and you were your usual funny, interesting, and engaging self. I'm so sorry that you have gone, Mark, because I know how much you will miss Liz and all the family and just how much you will be missed. Sending love to you and all the family x

We’ll miss Mark terribly. We didn’t have the privilege of knowing him for very long but the time we had was very special to us. We knew Mark as a funny, witty, clever man. We delighted in his company and always were excited to see Mark and Lizzie on Alonissos; we have such happy memories of us all being together and having fun, enjoying each other’s company and feeling carefree. If there is an afterlife, we hope we get to spend many lazy afternoons talking, laughing, eating pork chops and drinking house wine with you. You will be missed so much, we will do our best to be there for Lizzie, Mark xxx

I first met Mark in October, 1974, when we both studied Classics at Keble College, Oxford. We became good friends and shared a house with two others for the last two years of our course. At the time, my home was in Athens, and in the summer of 1976 (I think) he came out to Greece for the first time, a country where he and Liz many years later made their second home. Mark was the godfather of Teddy, the younger of my two sons, and never failed to remember his birthday or get in touch at Christmas. Mark was basically a very good and kind man and his passing is a great loss. I will miss him very much. Our sympathy and condolences to Liz and the family.

Mark was an exceptional person and a true gentleman. Always calm, logical, funny, kind and most of all, humble. He was a fantastically supportive work colleague and it was a privilege to know him. A light has gone out in the world. Sue and Gordon Matheson xxx

Mark was a very special man and has been a good friend to us over the thirty or so years we have been in the area. Always good company and a very kind, calm and thoughtful soul. A brilliant chef and a great sense of humour. He will be missed.

Having worked with Mark in Lincoln towards the end of his career, I hadn't realised until very late what a significant influence he had had on the shape of Business Process Outsourcing and a model that was replicated across the country. A Thought Leader and a Gentleman who was an absolute pleasure to work with.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends

Mark was the most gentle, most compassionate, person I've ever known. It was a privilege to be his PA and to work with him 1998 - 2011. My heartfelt condolences to Liz and the family.

Ruby and Victor send their love to you Mark. I’m going to miss discussing the Curry Secret book recipes, updating you on the weather in Australia and sending you bamboo socks at Christmas. You may be gone but we will always remember you. A toast to you with a glass of Penfold’s shiraz. Love always Emma
