Dearly loved husband, father, Granddad, brother and friend, died January 29, 2020 aged 64 yrs after a short battle with cancer. Born in Horsforth, Leeds, January 19, 1956, son of Helen and Bill Fox, older brother to sister Hilary, and younger brother to half-sister Angela.
Peter was loved and respected by all who knew him. Peter spent most of his life in Yorkshire but had strong ties to Exeter where he first met his beloved wife and soul-mate, Julie Densham. Together they settled in Burley-in Wharfedale and raised two beautiful daughters, Nicola and Laura. Latterly, Peter and Julie shared their time between Burley and Exeter where both girls eventually settled to raise families of their own. It brought him great pride and joy to spend time with his Grandchildren, Alfie, Florence and Myla.
Peter graduated from Leicester University with a degree in Geology before beginning a career in sales and eventually taking over as Director of M1 Engineering, a manufacturing company established by his father. He was a caring, patient, knowledgeable man and talented athlete. He played rugby for West Park, Otley, Leicester University and Exeter. In latter years he was an avid triathlete and cyclist. He loved playing rock n'roll on the piano, having a beer with his pals, and was a wildlife enthusiast and nature lover.
His life was rich, full, and always full of hope. He will remain in our hearts forever.

Peter

When I first came to work at M1 Engineering, my then boss, said to me that I had an ally in you. At that time I did not fully appreciate what he meant but over the 30 years that I have known you I can honestly say that I came to realize very quickly just what that meant within my role. These are too numerous to tell and I am sure at times you despaired with my outspoken ways, your favorite statement being " did you give him a good hand-bagging? when I was particularly vocal with my views. I do know that you always fully supported me and appreciated my "female" views within the day to day running of M1 and I thank you for that.
Peter you will be sadly missed... what I wouldn't give for you to ring up and ask me again for a copy of something that I had already given you several times before!!! as you had misplaced it.

On a personal note you taught me a lot about birds and even had me running down to your office to listen to the sound of the Blackbird so that I could identify it in the garden on summer mornings. You certainly taught me a lot about birds and this will remain with me and I am often reminded of you when I watch the birds on the bird feeder at home. I remember being excited when you told me what sort of seeds attracted what sort of birds and coming into work to tell you that I had had a visit from a Bullfinch.

It was lovely to visit Topsham where you spent a lot of time enjoying the scenery and birds and spending time with your grandchildren. Michael and I went on the Goat walk that you told us about and stopped by at one of the Bird hides. It made me feel peaceful to know that though your time was cut short you really would have enjoyed spending time in Topsham with your family.

We all had the greatest respect and loyalty to you Peter and that came from you treating us all in the same way. All the emails of condolences from within the Industry that I have received all say what an absolute gentleman you were and one of life's good guy's and I couldn't agree more.

Sleep well Peter you had a wonderful life and you live on in your family that is plain to see.

Peter walked into West Park Rugby club as a Bramhope teenager and he immediately impressed all those who came into contact with him he was always friendly and polite and interested in what others had to say, something that never left him , always thinking of others rather than himself, he was a keen rugby player and left us to play at Exeter while he was at University,He was a regular at our club reunions and typical of Peter he recently sponsored a reunion day, He will be sadly missed by all his friends at West Park we will all have a thought for Peter and his family on Friday

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Peter. I have known him for over 25 years. At first he was my client and then became a good friend. Indeed, I would say he was one of those longstanding colleagues that I have known longer than I have had children and really became part of my life.

In all those years, he stood out as someone that was young, smart, kind and positive - quite different to many Managing Directors that I knew. It was always a great pleasure listening to his thoughts. He was passionate about doing the best for his company, his staff, his products and his customers.

He even cared about his suppliers like me - doing my family tree, which was a little difficult to explain to my parents!

I will miss our chats and his great, positive attitude to life, which I understand, he maintained to the end.

RIP Peter.

Peter, thank you so much for firstly employing me for over 30 years. Giving me support, guidance, direction, friendship, great banter, and most of all the kindest man I knew. Peter called me into his office and told me he was worried about my health as my weight had ballooned up to 27 stone. He told me he would like to help in a healthy living program and the company would fund it. I have now lost 10 stone in weight and if it was not for Peters support, I would not be here today. I am going to miss you Peter so much, it really hurts. Life is so cruel, and god only takes the best, and you Peter are the very best. Finally our banter between Leeds United and Bradford City. We had a photographer visit the company, Peter arranged for me to have a photo taken with my Bradford City scarf on, which I was very pleased to have done. A few weeks went by and the photos was supplied, I noticed a photo on the notice board of me proudly wearing my scarf, but Peter had spoken to the Photographer, and had him superimpose a Leeds United Scarf around my neck. Lol so funny. Sorry I cannot make the funeral Peter, I so wanted to be there for you, I am sure you will understand that Roy’s funeral is on the same day, and lots had already made arrangements to attend yours. From my heart I will never forget what you have given me in life Peter, RIP Peter, and love and best wishes to all your lovely family xxxx Until we meet again.

Having known Peter many years as a very good business acquaintance and good man there is a wee tear in my eye. He gave me some guidance over the years as I am sure he has done to many at M1. Anne and I shared some lovely times overseas with Peter and Julie, nice memories, thank you very much Peter.

Peter,
Bernd, myself and other AP colleagues were so saddened to hear of your passing, and since that day we have been looking back and reflecting to when we first met.

I still remember being fairly new to AP back in early 1998, visiting M1Eng for the first time with my then manager Colin McGregor and meeting you, Jason and the team. Who would have thought that back then, a very trusting and strong working relationship would develop, at the same time respecting one another as private individuals?

Over the 22+ years since we started working together “Peter the person” has always shone through, always very polite and well mannered, gentle, caring for others and especially valuing your employees, not always seen in larger businesses.

Also, we saw you as being knowledgeable and interesting to talk with during those evening dinners with Bernd, Jason and me. All in all, the “Quint Essential British Gentleman” which we know other people share the same views.

When Bernd and I were talking the other week, he sends his “condolences to the family by the way” We were laughing when remembering the time the four of us were dining at the Blackhorse, with you, Jason, and I ordering the white onion soup, Bernd ordered something very different and when it arrived, it was just luke warm, it was awful. I moaned about it at the table, you and Jason soldiered on trying to convince me it was OK..

The one we really laughed at was the night we ate at one of our favourites, the “Queens Head Weybridge” You and Jason ordered a pie, chicken and leek, I believe? And when it was served, you couldn’t see the plate for a mountain of boiled sliced carrots  10% pie 90% carrots, and again, you politely eat your meal and convinced Bernd and I it was very nice”” True Gentleman Peter style.

There was just one thing that was bugging Bernd. When we met at the business table and Bernd was talking, you always scribbled something down. Bernd was never sure what you wrote and will always think “ Hm’mmm” It kept him on his toes anyway.

Its time to go Peter

God Bless

Bernd and Steve
