In loving memory of Alan David Mellor (30/07/1939 to 23/01/2020). Alan was born and bred in Nottingham and lived in Keyworth for 40 years. Upon leaving Laing’s Construction Company, he ran Plumtree Building Company, serving the local community. He spent most of his retirement in Lincolnshire, where after the death of his wife Pamela, and 40 years of happy marriage, he partnered Marion for 19 years. He died in the Butterfly Hospice in Boston, having been discovered to have an inoperable disease of his oesophagus in early December 2019. He was lovingly cared for there, and his physical suffering was minimal.

On This 1st Anniversary 23rd January 2021
We may not see or hear your voice
But phrases dear to you
Are never out of memory
And keep your image true.
It helps to bear the loss we feel
Now we don’t have you here
To know that you are safe at rest
With no more pain to fear.
All our love from Marion & family x

Your bravery and your love
That caring wise and watchful eye
Which now peers at us from above

The uncle who I adore
The leader of a family
Who gave us more and more.

There were so many lessons
Most important how to fight
To be proud of who we are
Stand up with all our might.

Through all the important moments
You made sure to be there
Will see you again Uncle Alan, you I adore

Mr Mellor came into my life as a customer and left as my second father, He treated me as a son and I saw him as a father since I lost mine, if i did wrong he would tell me so 😢 but if I did something right then he would say " well that's fantastic".
I'm heartbroken to know that you are no longer with us but I do know that you will still be here in spirit ❤️.....
Most amazing man that i ever knew 💕

We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday & days before that too.
We think of you in silence, we often speak your name.
All we have are memories & your picture in a frame
Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts.
Love from Marion Drew & David Mellor

We can never thank you enough dear Alan for giving our mum such happiness and comfort. You were a rock to her and all who knew you. You took your illness in your stride with characteristic dignity, humour and bravery. You shall be so deeply missed but your open heart and courageous, happy soul lives on in our memories. Eternal gratitude and love. Amanda
