Norman, ex colleague and friend, an unconventional leader with whom I often disagreed. But great fun and a shared sorrow when both our close families were hit by cancer. Gone too soon. Rest in peace.

Norman (or Mr Foster as he was preferred to be called in my day) was my first ever boss.

At the tender age of 19 I became his secretary for the next 11 years. Thanks to his guidance and instilling in me excellent work ethics I'm a well respected PA.

He saw me grow up. He shouted at me for dying my hair vibrant colours to which I had my nose pierced just to annoy him lol. Fond fond memories of a great boss. I know his family and friends will miss him greatly. Hard to comprehend he's gone 😥

My deepest and sincerest condolences to all his family xx

To the man I truly adore as a friend and work colleague who would guide you through thick and thin. I didn't actually understand the words “bereft” until I heard the news of Norman’s passing. A true leader, protector, and man so full of life and fun it was just a complete pleasure and privilege to be in his company. I am so grateful for the times I have spent in Normans company and only now realise how precious that time was. He worked incredibly hard and gave everything of himself to ensure you gained confidence, knowledge and an understanding of the political game, one I so obviously chose to ignore (much to his dismay).

I know how much his wife and family meant to him and I can only say how blessed you all have been to have had him in your lives. We had Norman for such a short time but what an impact he made on our lives.

I am and will be forever grateful to Norman for all his help and advice. He is one of life’s true gentleman who will always hold a special place in my heart - just for being Norman.
God bless you Norman, I know I will miss you dearly xx
