In loving memory of Mattie Connell who sadly passed away on the 7th January 2020.
Mattie was born in Glasgow in 1957 and grew up in Auchinairn a small village near Bishopbriggs on the outskirts of Glasgow.
She attended Auchinairn Primary School and Bishopbriggs High School.
She left school and started working at William Collins Publishers in the factory , she left there and then worked in various Local Pubs and then eventually she returned to work at the former William Collins which was by now known as HarperCollins Publishers where she worked for an on-site catering company .
In 1998 she became the HarperCollins Book Shop Assistant a role she loved and continued to fulfill in the days and hours right up until her last day when she sadly passed away .
Mattie ran an annual MacMillan Cancer Charity Coffee Morning in the HarperCollins Book Shop with a tombola, bake sale, raffles and a buffet that she loved to organise.
This was her favourite charity and any contributions made in her memory would be greatly appreciated .
Mattie had no children of her own but was much loved for her generosity and kindness towards other family members in particular her nieces and nephews and great nieces and her great nephew.
After the death of her husband Robert Connell in the late nineties she was fortunate enough to find happiness again and spent the last twenty years of her life with her long term partner Henry Reston who also works at HarperCollins Publishers and who was with her at the end.

Over and above the amount raised here with Just Giving there was another £1000 which was raised by Family, Friends and Work Colleagues and donated in memory of Mattie to her favourite Charity. “Although you may be gone your good work carries on in your name. “
