Dear Barbara,
It is with deep sadness that Gloria and I have received the news of George's passing. Although we were business partners George was, first and foremost, a dear friend.
Gloria and I first met him in the mid 1990's. He invited us to a restaurant on Piccadilly Lane where we had a gourmet dinner with the perfect accompanying wine. Our discussion about how to develop the business of medical diagnostics established a connection which convinced me that we had found the ideal business partner. At all times, George was professional, knowledgeable and creative.
However, it is the personal aspect that I wish to emphasize. On one occasion, George traveled to Denver and met my father who was also visiting; even though there was the language barrier, my father always remembered his conversation with George. At one dinner party, he chose a wine in honor of Gloria's parents: Julien and Gloria. We always felt honored that you invited us to Donald and Carrie's wedding in London. During the years, we have never stopped sharing the latest news of our children and granddaughters.
Every November, after MEDICA in Dusseldorf, I looked forward to a few days in Peterborough before heading back home. We especially remember our recent visit to Peterborough. By then, George had had serious medical problems but, as usual, you and George gave us the warmest of welcomes and we stayed in your home for a couple of days. I remember we talked about our favorite topics, including our personal preferences of Scotch whisky.
We will cherish many fond memories of George, but even though George has passed away, we want to keep in close contact with you. We hope we can meet in the near future to share our friendship and keep memories alive.
Warmest regards,
Luis and Gloria Lopez
