In loving memory of Betty (Bett) Carr who sadly passed away, peacefully at home, on 25th December 2019.
Born in Church View, Rowston, on 23 July 1923, Bett spent her early years living with her elder brother, Arthur, and their parents, James and Annie Parker. After moving into two other houses in the village, Bett settled down and enjoyed married life with her husband, Emison (Mem) on Digby Road, where five children appeared over several years.
In the late '60s another move, all of 50 yards down the road, saw Bett and Mem take up residence in Corner House. Many enjoyable years were spent here, with several eventful family barbeques, dinner parties and golf competitions being a few of the memorable events.
When Mem retired in 1983, a final move, into 2 Glasshouse Cottages took place, where they developed a wonderful garden to enjoy together in their latter years. Following Mem's passing in 1991, Bett remained "down the lane" and looked after herself, the house and garden for many more years.
About 6 years ago, following a period of poor health, Bett expressed her wish to remain in Rowston until her dying day. Some of her close family supported her in this wish, and with help from her GP and Community Nurses set about helping her on a daily basis. Over the last couple of years, extra help was needed, in the form of daily carers, other family and neighbours and for the final two days, Marie Curie nurses.
Thanks to this support, Bett got her wish.
May we meet again.
