I have grown up knowing that I quite simply owe my life to Dr Taylor, I hope you don’t mind me sharing my story.
In 1973 when i was just 2 years old I contracted whooping cough, dad had walked into the village at 3am to use the pay phone to call the doctor (we didn’t have our own phone), Dr Taylor visited me but at 6am my condition had deteriorated and so dad called again. Dr Taylor came to the house, bundled my mum and I into his car, broke all speed limits and ran every red light as he rushed me to Burton Hospital, he knew we didn’t have time to wait for an ambulance. On arrival he assisted with my emergency tracheotomy and here I am 45 years on courtesy of this wonderful man. i have always known how lucky I was to be in his care and one of the proudest moments of my life was when I won a local music competition and was awarded the Dr Taylor trophy, it meant so much to me. I went on to study music, and would often reflect on my good fortune. Without the medical expertise of this incredible man none of it would’ve been possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr Taylor you will always be alive in my memory xxx
