In loving memory of John Eve who sadly passed away on the 11th December 2019.
A much loved husband of Lesley, Dad to Tony, Cathy and Matt, Grandad to Jade, Matty, Ben, Kai, Tom, Cain and Beau, Great Grandad to Ava-Mae. Brother to Ann, Alan and Roy and friend to many.
Family flowers only please, donations would be gratefully received for Macmillan Caring Locally whose primary aim is to fund the Macmillan unit at Christchurch Hospital.

I'd just like to thank all the staff at Nicholas O Hara's for their help and support, especially Philip who was always ready to sort any problems, everybody at the Bethel Chapel who prayed for and supported us and especially Brendan who took the services and Philip who helped. Our thanks go to Vicki and the staff at MacMillan, Christchurch. I'd also like to thank the wonderful carers at St Leonard's for their amazing care of John; they came in twice a day in the last weeks of his life and were always so kind and gentle with him. We are also indebted to Dr Levinson at the Lake Road Practice for his unstinting care and kindness, and to all the district nurses who came out over the years. Our family would also like to pay tribute to the Dr Eccles at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and all the lovely staff at the Stoma Department at Poole Hospital. We are so grateful for all the help and support John got and at the way the care was linked to provide a great package of care. Thank you all.

This my favorite picture of Uncle John and my Dad - that smile is how I will always remember him. I have so many fond memories of times spent as a child with Uncle John and Auntie Lesley, especially at Wynford Eagle. He will be truly missed by many.

A great picture of them both Becky, and I remember the happy times we had together, and when you and Georgie and your lovely Mum came down and we toured around West Dorset finding the smallest pub (was it Godmanstone?) and all of us laughing at all the quaint Puddle and Piddle names in West Dorset. John was very close to your Dad, his youngest brother, and their shared love of football and Brentford, and was chuffed they won, was it 7-0, recently.

Steve and I first met John as young teenagers in the early 1960s when he was our cousin Lesley's boyfriend and later at their wedding and at family gatherings in the years that followed.
We both remember him from long ago as being an exceptionally kind, caring, fun-loving person who somehow lit up the room and was a joy to be around. We were lucky enough to meet him again more recently, years later at a family lunch when he seemed to have changed very little.
It is very moving to read peoples' more recent memories of John and to know that through the years he remained the same kind, loving person who touched the lives of many, was so special to all who knew him and made such a difference.
Our love and thoughts are with you Lesley and with all the family at this time, who share the most precious memories that will pass down through the generations.

You were our lovely bridesmaid Glyn, and we both read with interest your letters from Chile when you were living there, and it was lovely to re-connect more recently. Thank you for your lovely comments, and you are so right about John - he was very special, and I was so lucky to be married to him for 57 years, and have 3 lovely children as well. How lucky is that! I'll always remeber you as my big brother we had a lot in common particularly our love of cricket, football and latterly golf. I remember as a small boy sitting on your shoulders throughout a game at Griffin Park and I'll always be grateful for you comming to watch me with Dad the first time I played for West Middx Schoolboys. Thinking of you you'll be in my thoughts forever!!

Your shared love of football, cricket and golf was a great bond, especially when Brentford won! John would say 'Good boys' when the results came up, and he loved watching football on tv, especially if Brentford were playing. He loved you visiting Alan, and also had that strong bond with family that you have. So important, and so special.

Debbie - I am so sorry that John was not well enough for you to visit when you were going to come down. He loved you, and he loved the fact that you were always there for Cathy, that you are such good friends. We have known you since you and Cathy were quite young, and feel you are part of our family. Thank you for always making John smile, and thank you for your good heart Debbie, for all you do for others. Thank you for that bottle of dry martini you bought that day too!

Thank you Cliff. You are so right, and you and John had so many laughs along the years. Thank you for being such a good mate to him and to you and Lynne for all the fun meals we have shared, and the holiday in Portugal when we changed all John's cards for high scoring cards when he went to the loo. His face was a picture, and we laughed about it afterwards. Not a very reverent comment, but we had lots of fun.

Kate and I have fond memories of John, and Lesley of course, over so many years. John was a sort of father figure in Wynford Eagle. We were pleased that he had good times, even when he was unwell after moving.

John and Lesley were our lovely neighbours for many years at Wynford Eagle and were much missed when they left for the warmer climes of Cyprus. They were always the warmest and friendliest of neighbours. They put up with us all trapsing through their garden to the annual bonfire and were always enthusiastic participants in any of the get togethers we had in the hamlet.
John particularly loved his veg garden and took time to show me how to properly pinch out my tomoto plants. When he left he gave me his special tomato pots and every year I use them I think of John.

Thank you Sue and Dave. What made our time at Wynford Eagle so special was the friendship with our wonderful neighbours, the planned and at times informal get togethers, the bonfire party and services in the lovely little church there on Christmas Eve and Easter. We always remembered the party you held when we left to go to Cyprus with the Greek theme, and Dave's group playing live. Very special. Thank you. Love, Lesley xx
