So sorry to hear about the passing of your lovely Mum, John. Although we haven't seen her recently I remember fondly the times we spent together years ago at family Christmas's and get togethers. It was also lovely to be kept informed of her time spent at The Herons through your informative, sometimes humerous and newsy letters John.
We hope all goes well on Thursday and are so sorry we are unable to share that time and memories with you but send all our love to you and Wendy and all the family.
We will be thinking of you and remembering happy times together
Lots of love
Lynn and Rob xx

In loving memory of Ethel Truman who sadly passed away on 8th December 2019
Ethel was born in Leyland Lancashire in the middle of the first world war, where she spent her early years before moving to Wollaton, Nottingham with her parents.
On leaving school Ethel worked in the lace industry in Nottingham as an overlocker and during the early part of the second world war she made mosquito nets & parachutes. Ethel met her future husband, Horace, and enjoyed going dancing with him and prior to marriage they bought a tandem and enjoyed cycling holidays around the Peak & Lake Districts together.
She married Horace in 1940 and after marriage she became a village postwoman in Wollaton. She was married to Horace for 65 years and they had 2 children, John & Peter. She was a devoted Mum to John and Peter and loved nothing more than spending time with them. As a young mum she enjoyed knitting jumpers for them and taking them on Holliday to the coast. While the boys were growing up she became a cleaner at the local William Sharpe school and had many interesting stories to tell about life in a school. She took up cycling again as a means of transport to get around as she never learned to drive.
Later in life she was very proud to become grandma to Peter's son Jack and spent as much time going to stay with him as she could, she also became step grandma to Sarah & Richard and Great step grandma to Lewis, Alisha, Ben & Sammy.
For the last 9 years Ethel has lived at the Herons Care Home, where she has been well liked and a bit of a character with her amazing sense of humour. Ethel is going to be very sadly missed but at 103 years of age she's led a very full and interesting life.
If anyone wishes to donate anything in Ethels memory, it would be appreciated to put towards the Attenborough Nature Reserve Appeal: https://www.nottinghamshirewildlife.org/lifelineappeal
