In loving memory of John Binch who sadly passed away surrounded by his family on 13th November 2019, aged 76.

John was born on 29 January 1943 in Awsworth. He attended Awsworth Junior School, followed by Carlton le Willows Grammar School and Bramcote Hills Grammar School.

He started work at Mansfield Factors, before joining City Electrical Factors, who he worked for until retiring at the age of 60. He was responsible for developing and founding the Scottish branches, moving to Edinburgh in 1972, before relocating with the family to Cheshire and finally returning to Nottingham in 1986. He was well-regarded as a hard-working, no-nonsense but fair and generous boss.

He met his future wife Anita on Boxing Day at a party hosted by their friends Anne and Vic. They married at Kimberley Church on 22 June 1968, and were fortunate to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2018. They remained a classic double-act throughout their long partnership together, supporting each other and sharing many experiences and exotic holidays.

John had 3 children - Hayley, Charlotte and Russell - and 4 grandchildren - William, Nathan, Hannah and Tarquin. He was a loving dad and granddad, teaching his children the value of hard-work and resilience. He was proud of his family, taking great pleasure in sharing in their achievements and standing by them during the more difficult times. He was full of advice based on his vast experience, and his children are eternally grateful for his help, support and loving encouragement throughout the years.

A man who knew his mind, who had a strange sense of humour, with a love for walking, steam trains, gardening, bridge and pub quizzes, a great boss, generous friend and loving family man, John will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

We were the friends who introduced John and Anita to walking.. Six of us were staying in the Yorkshire Dales one February half term and did a walk from Hubberholme to Litton in rather poor conditions. At the pub at lunchtime we asked if we could get a taxi back to which the reply was No. On the way back we had heavy snow and John said he had wine in the car which after we had all showered and changed we could have in the lounge in front of the nice coal fire. We couldn't get down to the lounge fast enough. Unfortunately John and Anita didn't appear, they had fallen a sleep. We never did find out what happened to the wine or if indeed there was wine at all!! The friendship did survive.

John was an absolutely fantastic Uncle and a great God Father too. We will all miss him very much but will remember him fondly for his great humour, kindness and hospitality as he and Auntie Anita hosted and entertained us at many fantastic family events. He will always be remembered with lots of love xxx
