In loving memory of Geoffrey George Scott Picksley who sadly passed away on 18th October 2019

Geoff was born at Normanby by Spittal and the only child of Dora and George, 74 years ago. He went to the village primary school and from there onto Kirton Lindsey Secondary Modern School and then Lincoln Tec College. His only employment followed with a 5 year apprenticeship at Ruston’s where he then became a fitter for three years but for the rest of his time at Ruston’s he became a Production & Planning Engineer. He spent 25 years there, and got his gold watch, but took early retirement because of ill-health.

Geoff met Maggie when he was 23 years old and they married in 1970 and had a very happy marriage for 40 years. Sadly he lost Maggie 8 years ago having nursed her for a number of years. They were both very keen bowlers.
Soon after Maggie died he cared for his elderly father until he died. Geoff and Maggie did not have children but considered the members of Dunholme Bowls Club their ‘family’. However, on Maggie’s side Geoff remembers fondly four nieces and nephews on his wife’s side of the family; Rachel, Robert, Peter and Charmaine and his own two cousins Rachel and Karen.

Geoff’s interests have always been bowling where be once helped with food preparation for special events, in selecting teams, helping the greenkeeper and coaching. He also played golf and enjoyed gardening. He once even enjoyed making jewellery. He also loved fast cars! Geoff ran a swimming club at one time and was a befriender with the Mental Health Service.

Geoffrey had very many friends, mostly bowlers at Dunholme & District Indoor Bowls Club, but especially Jane, Janet and Brenda who will miss him dearly.

So sad to have lost our very special friend Geoff, had many years of true friendship, been really special to have seen how happy he has been since meeting Jane, what a shame he didn’t enjoy a few more.
With love Janet and Ralph

Very sad to hear of Geoff’s passing, new him for quite a number of years, especially the past few years at the bowls club.He was a quiet man, but a true gentleman, very respectful to all he met.
I am pleased to say, that some time ago,Geoff met a very nice lady called Jayne. I believe they brought each other, much happiness in the short time they had together.
I think it was wonderful that Geoff had Jayne with him at the end.
He will be sadly missed, love Keith & CAROLE xxx
