In loving memory of Christopher Godden who passed away on the morning of October the 22nd 2019.

Chris was a loving and devoted husband of Shirleen Godden and was a supporting and loving father and grandfather.

Chris was born in Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in the United States of America on 1st June 1950. He has lived in many different countries whilst he was was growing up. He settled in his family home in the United Kingdom to live with his father where he met his wife, Shirleen. They married and had two sons in the 1970s. From the 1990s he then became a grandad and devoted himself to his family, which was always his way.

Chris has always been surrounded by music and being an accomplished and influential musician has been involved in the music scene in and around Southampton since the 1960s. Being a member of the band Circle Plantagenet he was well respected by his peers. After reforming in 2009 he continued to be involved in writing music and up until very recently had finished working on a tenth album.

Chris has touched so many lives in so many ways that it would be impossible to list all of his achievements and people who loved and respected him. He will be missed deeply.

Flowers to be provided by the family only. If you would like to show your remembrance, please donate to the Countess Mountbatten hospice for the amazing work and dedication they show towards everyone in their care.

  • This is an early band image, it’s the first time I’ve seen this photo. Ken.
