A loving wife to Douglas, an amazing Mother to Kay and Antony, Mother-in-law to Peter and second Mum to Rosie. A caring and proud Grandmother to Kyran and Harrison, Sister to Frank, Susan and Richard, Aunt to David, Sally, Rebecca, Stephen, Hannah and their children.

Her commitment to helping others saw her serve as a member of St John Ambulance for over 52 years. During which time Janet volunteered approximately 1000 hours per year. She was the Superintendent of the Sittingbourne & Milton Regis Adult Division for over 30 years and most recently the Cadet Division as well.

During her time with St John Ambulance both as a volunteer and an employee she has trained, supported and guided thousands of people to provide first aid assistance to those in need.

Janet enjoyed travelling and at the age of 58 spent an incredible month exploring New Zealand. She then went on to visit amazing places such as Canada, Hawaii and beyond.

To say that Janet will be missed is a huge understatement. She will be forever in our hearts xx

A belated condolences to her family. I was unaware until now that heaven had been fortunate to gain Janet as an angel. From a young age I was fortunate to of been a St John Ambulance cadet under Janet. She worked tirelessly for her volunteer work and she was an inspiration to me and I’m sure many others who were lucky enough to meet her. She will be missed but her legacy will live forever in her family and the people that she left behind. May she rest in eternal peace.

Its taken along time for me to find all the right words to put on here about my Auntie Janet and all the memories I have but I'd be here for along time, so couple of memories are falling in the fish pond Antony jumping in to save me and Auntie Janet washing me down in the kitchen sink, sitting round the table for dinner and awaiting for rice pudding but being told i have to wait for my serving as the skin was Uncle Doug's, being introduced to sons and daughters and heart to heart by Kay and Auntie Janet when walking to their house from school waiting to be picked up. The horse chestnuts around the open fire and so many more.... I shall miss the obligatory People's Friend tea towel at Christmas but most of all ill miss you Auntie Janet... we will keep your golden heart shining through us all 💛 love you always x

A great friend and colleague, tutor, trainer and mentor at St John Ambulance to me and my family. The hours spent putting the world to rights while sat in an ambulance watching everything from banger racing, speedway, to concerts.

Janet, such a lovely lady - what a pleasure it has been. Although I only knew you for a short time, you certainly made a lasting impression.

Always been so willing to help and support with all things and have brought a wealth of knowledge along with you to whatever you’ve done.

Rest in peace Janet xxx

Janet, words cant even begin to express the impact you have had on my life and you helped shape me into the man I am today. You taught me so much about care and compassion and without you, I wouldn't have followed the career path I have. As one of your "home-grown" paramedics I am so unbelievably proud to have flourished under your love, support and guidance.
What I will miss most of all, are our little chats which were always full of wisdom and your hugs which just made everything feel much better!
You have been a part of my life for longer than not and I will miss you so very much, rest in peace and one day we shall meet again for an extra special hug and a good catch-up.

I met Janet many years ago when her sister Sue took me along and introduced me, then left me there !
Not having an idea what I let myself in for I was a bit nervous yet Janet welcomed me in to the SJA family.
In time I learnt a great deal and loved my time there, all because of the caring lady I met that first night.
I will miss not seeing Janet around town, miss the calm influence she had on me and many others.
Rest in peace Janet x

I have many fond memories of Janet, since joining St John Ambulance. What sticks out above all is the dedication, commitment and passion shes given SJA over the years. She delivered countless FA courses, shared her wisdom to new trainers in the making and supported many existing trainers to develop and grow. She'll be sadly missed by all.

I first met Janet in the 1980s when I started to work as a Sessional Trainer for SJA Kent. She worked in the old SJA Kent HQ, upstairs at Violet Astor House in Maidstone, and generally she was in the smaller of the upstairs rooms which was limited to 10 students. As I was getting to grips with the different courses and the material contained in them she guided me in my early days in the capacity above. Later I met her more frequently at Sittingbourne where she was the, then, Divisional Superintendent to the Combined Adult Division. By now (the late 1990s) I had become a County Staff Officer as well as being a trainer so our paths crossed more often.
Janet was very keen to ensure training was 'by the book' and her guidance in this matter was much appreciated as was her long experience as a Superintendent. Over the years since I have worked with Janet across many facets of St. John Ambulance life and always appreciated her knowledge and input, especially when she 'put me straight' on some matter or another.
I will miss her input and the world of St. John Ambulance will be all the poorer without her. Rest in peace Janet and God bless you for all your years of SJA service.
