Tony Dyer, a devoted husband to Carolyn and a much loved father to his three boys, Connor, Harrison & Fraser sadly passed away on Sunday 22nd September 2019 aged 45 years old. Tony was a larger than life character, the perpetual joker, a creative thinker and risk taker with an adventurous soul. He made an impact on all whom he met. A passionate and driven man he could turn his hand to whatever he put his mind too, this enabled him to have a successful and varied career path.
He was always was proud to serve his country, early in his career he was a non commissioned officer for Royal electrical and mechanical engineers in the HM Armed forces, he fought fire and saved lives as a firefighter for the Kent Fire Brigade, and he prevented illegal goods entering the country when he worked as an Anti-Smuggling Officer for Customs and Excise. He had a passion for fitness and exercise and spent time working as a PT for Tranmere Rovers and he also was a licensee for a short period at a Greene King public house down in Farnham. He really found his home, however, in Kent Police which he joined in 2002, he made many lasting friendships here and with a lot of hard work and dedication he worked his way through the ranks finally leaving earlier this year as a Chief Inspector/Acting Superintendent.
Tony left the Police to progress his career and took a position at the Department of Work and Pensions as the Head of the Security and Incident Response team. In the short time he was there his creative thinking and excellent decision making brought about lots of positive change. He has left a lasting impact on the team, they held him in high esteem and will continue to build upon his great work. Despite his successful career Tony managed to retain his sense of humour and will be remembered fondly for being the prankster and joker wherever he went.
Born in Scotland he very much saw himself as a Scotsman and he wanted us to eventually relocate there. He loved the great outdoors and felt most at home when he was at one with nature. An animal lover at heart but in particular he found great companionship in the company of dogs. He was also an avid Star Wars fan, a music fanatic ranging from the Kings of Leon and Oasis, to musicals and Dolly Parton, and he loved nothing more than strumming the strings on his guitar.
He is sorely missed by all his family and friends. Should you wish to join us in saying a final goodbye please find the funeral and wake details opposite. Please let me know if you are attending so I can manage numbers.
DONATIONS
Instead of flowers we are asking for donations to be made to Cruse Bereavement Care, Cruse is a charity supporting loved ones through their time of bereavement but they are currently massively underfunded and as such have not been able to provide us with support - we would like to support them so they can help more families like ourselves at this very difficult time.
Please make your donation by sending a cheque made payable to Cruse Bereavement Care via John Weir Funeral Directors, Rainham or on-line via this site.
