In loving memory of Jackie Saunders who sadly passed away on 30th September 2019.

The family would like to invite anyone that wishes to attend the service at Durston Church at 12.30 on Friday 11th October, followed by refreshments at the Village Hall beside the Church. A private service will then be held at the crematorium.

Parking at the Church is limited, however a local farmer has kindly offered the use of his yard, at the end of the road beside the Church. It is a working farm though, so please park considerately as large machinery needs constant access.

The family ask that no additional floral tributes are given. If you would like to give anything in Jackie's memory, then please make a donation to St Margaret's Hospice or the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital, who cared for and supported Jackie and family through her illness. Details of how to donate are on this page.

Please note that black attire is not necessary unless you feel that you want to.

We would love to hear your memories or see any photos of Jackie so please share on this page.

I first met Jackie in 1999 through work but from the start she was a great friend. She was fun, hard working and a lovely lovely person.
Jackie and I used to spend a lot of time working together just the two of us which I always enjoyed.
She would often talk of her family and it was obvious that she was very proud of all of them and loved them very much. At this time in her life she had no grandchildren but used to look forward to having her sister’s little ones for overnight stays etc.
Jackie made the world a better place and I feel very lucky to have shared the time I did with her.

Jackie was my hard working colleague and friend at the Audit Commission. We went on many training courses together and we had lots of fun together enjoying the social events. Jackie was a fun loving person with a warm personality. Jackie had a deep love for all of her family. Today you gave her a very fitting send off and she would have been so very proud of you all. God bless you Jackie. With love and happy memories Jenny xx

Jackie was such a kind lady with a lovely sense of humour, I always enjoyed our chats in the kitchen at work and I'm so grateful for her endless technical accounting knowledge when we were 'in discussions' with various auditors.
Rest in peace Jackie x

I cried when you all left Edgware convinced we’d never see you again but you and mum made it happen, 300 miles apart felt like nothing. I have the happiest of memories of summers with you making us so welcome and treating us like family. Nothing was ever too much trouble for you and I can hear you now saying ‘don’t be daft’ Eternally grateful to have had you in our lives. Love to all your family. Xxxx

Professionally I knew Jackie as an external auditor during her time assigned to West Somerset District Council when she used to audit the annual Statement of Accounts. Although we may have had one or two disagreements over the treatment of entries within the accounts, I always found Jackie to be very fair in her assessment and any issues / differences of opinion were always resolved quickly and harmlessly.

I also knew Jackie from a personal point of view during our time studying in Bristol for our CIPFA qualification and would meet up at lunchtimes with others to discuss either our shared understanding of what we had been taught or life in general. During this time I found Jackie to be very supportive which ultimately assisted in me becoming fully qualified. We could always bounce our interpretation of accounting treatment off one another, which I found useful and I even visited Jackie’s home to work through some of the revision required which I was extremely grateful for.

With the above in mind I have very fond memories of Jackie, both form a professional and personal point of view. May you rest in peace, with love.
